Do you have experience processing Canadian and US Payroll? Are you deadline-driven and able to work well under pressure?
We are looking for a detail-oriented and upbeat Payroll Administrator for our Head Office located in Calgary. This role is a for a one-year contract term. As a Payroll Administrator you will be responsible for processing pay for approximately 1100 salaried and 50 hourly employees across Canada and the United States. Reporting to the Team Lead, Payroll & Incentives, and being an integral team member of the Accounting and Finance department. You will ensure accurate processing and recording of the company’s Canadian and U.S. payroll and benefits, provide timely and efficient payroll reporting and maintain the highest levels of trust and confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information.
A Day in the Life:
Process semi-monthly payroll and special off-cycle pay runs for salaried and hourly employees using Ceridian
Create and process periodic payroll entries in D365
Update and maintain employee payroll records
Review, manage, and process calculations for garnishments, support orders, and tax levies
Calculate and review monthly Ontario and Quarterly BC Employer Health Tax reports and payments
Assist with the monthly closing process by reviewing and reconciling payroll-related General Ledger accounts
Collect data and provide calculations for annual RSP employer contributions
Provide census data for Worker Compensation reporting across multiple provinces
Stay informed on topics of changes to payroll legislation and tax and deduction requirements that apply to the payroll process
Work with HR to coordinate employee benefits
Provide ad-hoc reporting for Managers, HR, and Finance and Accounting
Assist with annual audit documentation for external auditors
Assist with processing and distribution of annual tax forms, including T4, T4A, and T2200
What You Bring:
Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP), CPP or equivalent payroll designation or willingness to achieve within one year
3+ years of full cycle Canadian and/or US payroll experience from new year setup through to year end reporting
Experience with employee benefits and retirement contribution plans
Solid understanding of payroll fundamentals, legislation, and best practices
Strong Microsoft Office skills, and specifically intermediate to advanced proficiency with Excel
Experience with Ceridian Dayforce
Excellent problem-solving and multitasking skills
Experience and confidence in dealing with third party vendors and government agencies
Meticulous attention to detail and excellent organization and time-management skills
