Our Macraes Open Pit Maintenance Workshop are on the search for a yard person. This role involves carrying out duties required for the general upkeep of the Open Pit Workshop and surrounding areas and where required, assisting Workshop and Stores personal with inwards and outwards goods, and general housekeeping duties.   

The is a 5 on / 2 off / 4 on / 3 off, dayshift only roster.  

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and general upkeep of workshop and stores facilities, including remote facilities
  • Completing the Weekly-Monthly compliance tasks
  • General housekeeping and dust removal in the workshop and stores
  • Completing upgrades, installing new services and equipment (minor works)
  • Carrying out projects
  • General yard duties; rubbish removal, weed spraying, signage repairs and replacement
  • Following all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) specified for particular equipment or tasks and be involved in the development and review/revision of procedures when required.
  • Full and current drivers licence, and confidence driving manual vehicles
  • A forklift endorsement is ideal
  • No formal qualification however a good mechanical aptitude will be required
  • A current First Aid Certificate is preferred
  • Physically fit – able to safely lift 25kg
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Possess a high degree of safety awareness

Experience:                

  • As a handyman or Jack of all trades
  • Working within an industrial, manufacturing or mining sector-based organisation
  • Working well both independently and as part of a team
  • Residential role, live and work in the stunning region of Otago, NZ.
  • 5 on / 2 off / 4 on / 3 off, dayshift only roster
