Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Who The Client Is: 

Role Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Xero / Accounting & Tax Assistant to support day-to-day finance operations. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of basic accounting principles, hands-on Xero experience, and familiarity with tax processes. This role will assist with accurate data entry, reconciliations, invoice management, and routine bookkeeping tasks to ensure the smooth and compliant operation of our financial workflows.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Perform accurate data entry in Xero, including uploading bills, receipts, and payment details.
  • Execute bank reconciliations to maintain up-to-date and accurate financial records.
  • Process client and supplier invoices, ensuring proper documentation and timely updates.
  • Assist with simple bookkeeping tasks, including accounts payable/receivable support and ledger updates.
  • Provide basic tax-related support, such as preparing documentation, categorizing transactions correctly, and assisting with compliance requirements.
  • Maintain organized financial files and uphold data integrity across all accounting records.
  • Support the accountant or finance team with routine administrative and financial tasks as needed.

Requirements

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Xero Accounting Software (required).
  • Basic understanding of tax concepts and compliance requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of bookkeeping fundamentals.
  • Ability to complete bank reconciliations accurately and efficiently.
  • Experience with invoice processing and financial data entry.
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage repetitive tasks with accuracy.
  • Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions and financial procedures.
