The candidate will be part of a holistic assessment of the NASA White Sands Test Facility (WSTF) groundwater monitoring program. Responsibilities include identifying redundancies or gaps in monitoring well coverage, highlighting areas with elevated contaminant concentrations requiring more aggressive remedial action, and determining sampling schedules that balance data needs with budget constraints in support of the WSTF environmental restoration program. Activities include defining and documenting the existing monitoring program, evaluating historical data, determining appropriate qualitative and/or quantitative evaluation approaches, applying industry-standard optimization tools, developing recommendations for optimal monitoring well distribution and sampling frequency, and preparing final assessment deliverables.

Role Summary:

Bridges field program knowledge with analytical outcomes to ensure recommendations are practical and implementable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and document the existing monitoring program.
  • Evaluate well construction, sampling history, and analytical results.
  • Assist in identifying redundancies, data gaps, and optimization opportunities.
  • Support preparation of technical narratives and recommendations.

Requirements

  • Degree in Environmental Science or related discipline.
  • Experience with groundwater monitoring programs under RCRA.
  • Strong knowledge of sampling design and monitoring strategies.
