ROLE PURPOSE  

Stylist is looking for a writer to join the editorial team. The editorial team work at pace producing content for our audience across all platforms – print, digital (free and paid), email, social and events. 

Reporting to the Deputy Editor (digital), the successful candidate will have experience writing for a fast-paced digital publication and take an interest in everything from feminism and politics to entertainment and the latest food trends. This role requires a self-starting journalist who has a passion for trends and is keen to grow as part of the Stylist team. 

This is a busy role that will see you writing news and working on features every day, while also taking part in ideas meetings as a wider team and focussing on personal deadlines. Excellent organisation and communication skills are required. The primary focus is to drive traffic to Stylist.co.uk and increase subscriptions on-site, while ensuring content is always on-brand. You will work alongside the editorial team to create a breadth of content; you should be well-versed in digital best practice and have experience working towards ambitious traffic targets. 

Requirements

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • To create outstanding editorial content that meets the high standards held by Stylist. 
  • To pitch and write content across a breadth of on-brand topics each day; writing a minimum of two stories/features for publication every day. 
  • To be adept at spotting new trends and conversation points as they emerge and make sure Stylist is at the forefront of these focal points. 
  • To work with the Deputy Editor to ensure ambitious KPIs and deadlines are met. 
  • To use digital SEO skills to ensure your content is reaching the target audience as required. 

 

 SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: 

  • Demonstrates a strong curiosity for emerging digital trends and maintains effective relationships with PR contacts to stay ahead of breaking news. 
  • Possesses solid knowledge and hands-on experience in digital publishing, content programming, and analytics. 
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and deliver quality work in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Thrives in collaborative, creative settings and works seamlessly with the wider editorial team.
