Workshop Supervisor

About The Role

We are searching for a Workshop Supervisor to join the Steam at our Machine Preparation Centre in Immingham. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the workshop, ensuring that all machinery services and repairs are conducted efficiently and to the highest standards. You will lead a dedicated team of technicians and collaborate closely with management to enhance workshop performance and customer satisfaction.

 

What you will be doing:

 

  • Overseeing workshop operations, ensuring jobs are completed on time and to the highest standards.
  • Managing and motivating your team—workforce planning, recruitment, training, and performance management.
  • Ensuring top-quality output, investigating and resolving any issues to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Maintaining health & safety excellence, leading by example to uphold best practices.
  • Supporting apprentices, providing supervision, mentoring, and hands-on development.
  • Overseeing tools & equipment, ensuring maintenance, testing, and availability when needed.
  • Driving continuous improvement, reviewing processes and implementing smarter ways of working.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, And Experience

To be successful in this role, we require the following qualifications and experience:

  • A formal engineering qualification in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural/HGV mechanics or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within the heavy construction equipment or related industry.
  • Strong technical expertise in servicing and repairing diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and other mechanical systems.
  • Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and health and safety.
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Basic computer proficiency for administrative tasks and reporting.
  • Full UK driving license.
