Wolfram, creator of Mathematica, Wolfram|Alpha and Wolfram Language, is looking for a Chemistry Step-by-Step Intern to join its Wolfram|Alpha Scientific Content department. The company is looking for an energetic, motivated individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills to work on a wide variety of chemical education projects. 

Join the Natural Sciences & Engineering team and work in a flexible and fast-paced environment. You’ll help improve our existing infrastructure and develop new chemical data and functionality in Wolfram|Alpha and Wolfram Language. We are looking for a candidate with solid chemical knowledge and programming experience in Wolfram Language. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently and collaboratively. A successful intern for this team will also have interest in learning new technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Writing well-designed, testable and efficient code
  • Working closely with the Chemistry team and your supervisor to prioritize the completion of tasks
  • Proactively managing the execution of projects to meet deadlines
  • Performing various duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of chemistry
  • Proven experience with Wolfram Language
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work well in both a team environment and independently
  • Self-motivated and proactive with a desire to complete tasks independently
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously

Preferred qualifications

  • A passion for chemical education and computational chemistry
  • Comfort developing and debugging in a range of programming paradigms
  • Experience in chemical education or research
  • Experience with Git

Location: Champaign, Illinois, or remote
Job type: Part time (Up to 29 hours per week)/Temporary
Reporting to: Lead Developer, Chemistry Education
Salary (for eligible candidates residing in the United States): The pay rate for this position is $15.00 per hour.
