Wine Director

Maroma A Belmond Hotel, is seeking a passionate Wine Director to elevate our wine programs. In this pivotal role, you will lead the development and execution of unique wine experiences, guiding our culinary teams in crafting distinctive wine pairings that enhance our guests' dining experiences.

Main duties & responsibilities:

• Develop and manage the wine portfolio, ensuring alignment with the culinary vision and guest preferences.
• Curate and maintain wine lists, focusing on diversity, quality, and excellence.
• Collaborate with chefs to design harmonious food and wine pairings for menus and special events.
• Oversee wine procurement and vendor relations, managing inventory and ensuring proper storage and handling of wines.
• Conduct staff training sessions on wine knowledge, service techniques, and tasting skills, enhancing overall guest experience.
• Design and implement wine-related events and promotional activities to engage guests and enhance their experience.
• Stay up to date with wine trends, emerging regions, and industry best practices.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Wine Director or Head Sommelier in a luxury hotel.
• Extensive knowledge of wines, including mexican and international varieties.
• Wine certification from a recognized institution (WSET, etc).
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Fluency in English.
• Bachelor's degree.
• Strong customer service orientation and attention to detail.
