Audit and manage system patching processes using PowerShell and VPSX, ensuring operational efficiency in a remote environment.
Duties:
Audit patching success / failure
Manual patching of systems when the vendor is providing an approved patch list.
Manual patching of systems when a specific procedure is required to shut down / start up the application.
Running pre-written PowerShell scripts to safely bring down and re-start selected applications.
Use VPSX to create new printer records for EPIC printing
Use of VPSX to Decommission retired printers.
Use of VPSX logging to assist Desktop in troubleshooting printing issues
Basic knowledge of EPIC text to set up records and send test prints as needed.
Skills Needed:
SolarWinds WSUS management interface.
The VPSX product by LRS for printing.
Understanding of selective OS patching methods.
Basic understanding of PowerShell ISE and running scripts.
Basic understanding of active directory and GPO management (to troubleshoot WSUS GPOs as needed)
Nice to have Skills:
Dell OME – hardware management, BIOS, etc.
VMware – ability to place host in maintenance mode for OS / hardware updates.
