Weighing Associate

CAD $42,000 – CAD $45,000 per year

TLDR

Provide safe and high-quality weighing of chemical compounds while fostering a clean and efficient working environment.

JOB PURPOSE

To provide weighing of items for sale and production, while ensuring that it is completed safely with high quality, and in a timely manner. The Weighing Associate will foster a working environment that is clean and tidy, fair, positive, and driven to continuously improve. 

Key Responsibilities  

Maintain a High Level of Safety:

  • Understand and foresee and report possible safety issues.
  • Abide by health and safety guidelines prescribed by governing bodies and the TRC Environmental Health and Safety Committee.
  • General housekeeping of work area.
  • Promote a safe working environment.
  • Work in a manner that does not jeopardize the safety of self or co-workers.
  • Work safely and follow company safety policy and procedures and completing regular quality product checks.
  • Adhere to the department 5S standards.

Receive and Retrieve Correct Chemical Compounds:

  • Retrieve chemical compounds from inventory for weighing and packaging.
  • Ensure all chemical compounds are returned and stored appropriately.
  • Inspect and verify product labelling before assigning storage locations.
  • Work safely and follow company safety policy and procedures and completing regular quality product checks.
  • Prioritize chemical products to be picked according to First in – First Out (FIFO).
  • Report any loss or missing items to the Finished Goods supervisor.
  • Maintain proper organization of storage areas and update the inventory database as required.
  • Communicate any potential issues to the Finished Goods team lead or supervisor.
  • Ensure that all incoming new products from the Warehouse or Quality teams get properly labelled and stored according to appropriate storage conditions.

Weigh and Verify Orders 

  • Carefully and accurately weigh chemicals as required. 
  • Use appropriate containers and follow weighing instructions. 
  • Inspect and verify orders, and product labelling before final packaging. 
  • Prioritize chemical products to be picked according to First in First Out (FIFO) 
  • Report any loss or missing items to the Finished Goods supervisor.  
  • Communicate any potential issues to the Finished Goods team lead or supervisor. 

Perform Other Duties 

  • Perform other duties and complete additional projects as assigned. 
  • Minimum College diploma

Competencies

  • 1-2 years of working experience in a similar field is preferred.
  • Good planning & organizing skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Previously worked with a balance with good knowledge of measuring units.
  • Good command of the English language.
  • Excellent team player.
  • Self-starter, task oriented with ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Independently solves problems within his/her scope.

Physical & Working Conditions

  • Working closely with chemical compounds including ones that are potentially toxic or classified as Dangerous Goods and be treated accordingly. 
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment while handling chemicals such as a respirator which requires fit testing. Clean shaving is required to be compliant with this PPE requirement. 
  • Must be available for: A second shift (9:30 am to 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday) 
  • Shift may change to a different shift depending on business needs.

Key Relationships

  • Works with other members of the Finished Goods, Quality, Production, and Shipping teams on processing and fulfilling customer orders and internal requirements.
  • Works with Environment, Health & Safety team regarding environment, health and safety issues and policies.

Pay range for this role is:

Minimum: CAD $42,000/ yearly

Maximum: CAD $45,000/ yearly

The salary range provided covers the minimum and maximum amounts projected for this role. The base salary will be influenced by factors like experience, skills, and location.
