Warehouse People Manager
TLDR
Support warehouse operations with a focus on balancing people management, compliance, and problem-solving in a dynamic environment.
Great warehouses don't run on stock alone. They run on people.
Behind every productive shift, successful new hire, accurate payroll submission, and engaged team is someone making sure the people side of the business runs smoothly.
We're looking for a Warehouse People Manager to support our warehouse team in Germiston. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys balancing people, processes, compliance, and problem-solving in a fast-moving operational environment.
You'll work closely with managers and the team across the warehouse, helping create a workplace where people know what's expected, feel supported, and have the tools to succeed.
If you're equally comfortable handling HR administration, navigating labour legislation, and having difficult conversations when required, this could be the role for you.
Requirements
What You'll Be Responsible For:
Team Experience & Operations
Administer leave, benefits, team records, and payroll-related processes.
Maintain accurate team information and HR documentation.
Respond to team queries and provide day-to-day HR support.
Ensure policies and procedures are consistently applied across the warehouse.
Coordinate employment contracts and team documentation.
Assist with shift planning and workforce scheduling.
Performance & Development
Support managers with performance management processes.
Identify development opportunities and training requirements.
Assist with succession planning and workforce development initiatives.
-
Help create a culture of accountability, growth, and continuous improvement.
Employee Relations & Compliance
Guide managers through disciplinary processes, grievances, and conflict resolution.
Ensure compliance with labour legislation and internal policies.
Support workplace investigations and employee relations matters.
-
Assist with health and safety compliance and reporting requirements.
Experience We're Looking For:
Degree or qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, or a related field.
Previous experience in a generalist HR or People Operations role.
Strong understanding of South African labour legislation and employee relations.
Experience supporting performance management and disciplinary processes.
Proficiency in Google Workspace, including Docs, Sheets, and Drive.
-
Experience in a warehouse, logistics, manufacturing, retail, or operational environment would be advantageous.
Before You Apply:
This role sits in the heart of the operation, not behind a corporate office desk.
You'll spend your time supporting a busy warehouse environment where priorities shift quickly, employee issues require immediate attention, and operational demands don't wait until tomorrow.
You'll need to be comfortable:
Having direct and sometimes difficult conversations.
Managing conflict professionally and fairly.
Balancing employee needs with business requirements.
Working in a fast-paced environment where people challenges arise daily.
-
Taking ownership when something goes wrong and helping find solutions.
The Hard Truth: Not For Everyone:
The Front Line: This is not a quiet office job. You are in the heart of the warehouse. You will be dealing with noise, movement, and real-time people issues.
Uncomfortable Conversations: Conflict resolution is a daily task, not an occasional one. You must be comfortable delivering direct feedback and managing difficult staffing situations without hesitation.
Immediate Accountability: If there is a payroll error or a staffing gap, the floor feels it instantly. You need to be detail-obsessed because your "paperwork" affects people's lives and the business's output in real time.
The work is rewarding, meaningful, and impactful, but it requires resilience, accountability, and a genuine passion for working with people.
If that sounds like your kind of challenge, we'd love to hear from you.
