ROLE OVERVIEW Pivot Energy is looking for an experienced, energetic senior executive to lead, develop, and expand the company’s growing project management team. The role will oversee all aspects of construction and completion of Pivot’s clean energy project portfolios, including development and management of staff, enhancing project management processes and reporting systems, ensuring subcontractor performance and compliance, and delivery and transfer of projects to operations and asset management. We are looking for a natural leader who can create and drive strategy to allow Pivot to deliver projects efficiently at the significant scale Pivot is achieving, and who will nurture and enhance our talented team to deliver high-quality projects to Pivot and our clients. This is a highly collaborative role, interfacing with Origination, Project Development, Engineering, Preconstruction, Finance, and other teams to ensure the successful completion of projects. Success in this role will hinge on clear and rapid communications with stakeholders, internal and external, and implementation of robust software and systems to process the scale of the work. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop sector expertise, serving as the construction market expert in the company and training team members on responsibilities to protect the company’s interests and reputation
  • Manage prime EPC contracts, driving high performance by subcontractors and enforcing the company’s rights and obligations, resulting in well-built, on-time, and on-budget projects
  • In collaboration with other leaders of the company, set the business direction and strategy for the project management team
  • Ensure compliance with all of the company’s policies and procedures
  • Own external communications and diligence with financial partners, working closely with the Project Finance team and partners to adhere to deadlines and reporting requirements
  • Create systems and enforce expectations of the team to clearly and rapidly communicate all project statuses, risks, and key decisions
  • Develop, execute, monitor, report, and revise internal project standards, policies, guidelines, and objectives as needed
  • Coordinate with internal Project Development and Finance teams to understand project portfolio timing and challenges
  • Coordinate with Engineering and Procurement teams to establish strategies, planning, and resource requirements to support the overall project pipeline
  • Interface with Preconstruction and Contracts team to establish best practices, review subcontractor qualifications, bid reviews, contract award, and negotiations as needed
  • Work with O&M and Asset Management teams to ensure smooth transitions into operations
  • Support proposals and/or presentations related to other business efforts such as RFPs
  • Evaluate individual and team performance and provide direction and development to team members
  • Support training and development of staff expertise in core functional areas
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with new and existing subcontractors through exceptional project delivery and collaboration
  • REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
  • 8+ years’ experience in solar construction and delivery roles
  • 5+ years of relevant business and leadership experience
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, collaborative, highly positive outlook, flexible, and team-building experience
  • Extensive knowledge of renewable energy construction assemblies, components, and sequencing of construction activities
  • Proven track record in developing highly competent, engaged, and efficient teams of construction professionals
  • Comprehension of solar cost structure and financial modeling
  • Experience in EPC contract negotiations and management
  • PREFERRED COMPETENCIES
  • Experience managing multiple nationwide project portfolios and delivering over 100MW annually into operation
  • Experience delivering small-scale utility projects into operation
  • Ability to navigate complex interconnection challenges and advance projects through utility processes
  • Contracting and construction of Energy Storage assets
  • PMP designation or equivalent project management experience
  • An advanced degree is a plus
