The Role

The VP, Finance Operations is a hands-on senior leadership position focused on financial transformation, operational excellence, and process management within a customer-centric travel environment. Reporting to the SVP, Finance, the incumbent is responsible for ensuring financial health, implementing rigorous process controls, and delivering data-driven insights that prioritize the traveler's experience. You will lead the finance function by building strong relationships across the business and ensuring all financial activities align with the goal of driving efficiency and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Financial Oversight: Manage the overall financial position of the company in accordance with established standards and policies.
  • Functional Reporting: Oversee day-to-day functional reporting and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all financial statements.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting processes, monitoring performance and analyzing variances for decision-making.
  • Audit Management: Direct the year-end audit process and ensure all accounting controls and reconciliation functions are robust.

Process Management & Optimization

  • Systems Integration: Actively participate in ERP system implementations and ensure system interconnectivity for accounting controls and reconciliation.
  • Automation: Hands-on development of automated processes and systems to achieve efficiency gains and quality improvements.
  • KPI Development: Design and implement robust tracking systems to align key performance indicators (KPIs) with company goals and customer-centric outcomes.

Customer-Centric Operational Support

  • Operational Collaboration: Work directly with support areas to understand key drivers of success and improve measurement systems from the ground up.
  • Resource Management: Improve the quality and reliability of financial analysis to ensure resources are allocated effectively across all functional areas.

Qualifications

  • Travel Industry Experience at Agency or Tour Operator is required: Minimum of 5 years of direct experience in the travel industry is required to ensure deep sector knowledge.
  • Accounting Designation: Canadian CPA designation is a must.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or Commerce.
  • Senior Experience: 10–15+ years of progressive work experience in a senior role leading a finance function in a multi-stream business.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Advanced level Excel and BI skills (e.g., Power BI or Tableau).
  • Direct experience with ERP system implementation
  • Full proficiency in consolidation accounting, including complex intercompany transactions and FX translations.
