We are looking for Voice Recording Coordinators who are fluent in the following languages
Luhya (Bukusu, Wanga, Kabarasi, Samia, Kisa, Tsotso and Nyala dialects)
Kamba
Somali
Gusii
The coordinators will recruit, organize, and guide voice participants through recording sessions, ensure all audio is of the highest quality, and manage activities to ensure timely submission of recordings.
This role is ideal for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about preserving and promoting local languages through technology.
What You’ll Do
Recruit and organize voice contributors from Luhya-speaking communities.
Guide participants through reading and recording sessions using a computer-based tool and related audio equipment.
Ensure recordings are clear, accurate, and meet project quality standards (no background noise, filler words, or interruptions).
Save and organize recordings properly for submission.
Plan and manage daily/weekly recording schedules in the field.
Supervise and support participants to meet collection targets.
Report progress and challenges to the project team.
Native or fluent speaker of the languages, with understanding of written text
Strong reading and communication skills in Luhya.
Basic computer literacy (comfortable using google suite, saving files, navigating a computer and learning new software).
Keen attention to detail and ability to enforce quality standards.
Experience in field coordination, participant recruitment, or community mobilization is an added advantage.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Flexible and willing to work in different Luhya-speaking areas.
Location: Coordinators will be based in regions where the respective languages are predominantly spoken, to ensure effective community engagement and ease of data collection. Preferred locations are as follows:
Luhya: Kakamega, Vihiga, Mumias, Busia, and Bungoma
Somali: Garissa and Nairobi
Kamba: Kitui, Makueni and Machakos
Gusii: Kisii and Nyamira
