The Visual Experience Designer primarily assists in the design and production of a wide range of print graphics for physical environments, exhibitions, and experiences. This role also contributes to early creative concept and cross-disciplinary design development phases, ensuring that an established design intent and graphic system are cohesive through production.
A sharp eye for design details, a collaborative communication style, and a highly organized work ethic are essential. This role offers a great opportunity to learn new skills and apply them across a range of fast-paced, exciting, cross-disciplinary projects.
Requirements
- Help build and apply cohesive graphic systems across project phases and deliverables—visual guidelines to typicals; elevations to installation guides, and more
- Quickly visualize and present clear design ideas, directions, and iterations with curated visual references as needed
- Photoshop and enhance spatial views supplied by Physical Design, ranging in fidelity and style
- Retouch, up-res, and resize a range of design assets for production (print and media)
- Design and prepare a wide range of production-ready print graphics for physical environments—everything from large-scale immersive graphics to small artifact labels, and more
- Assist in creating design guidelines and detailed installation guides for fabricators and partners
- Collaborate and effectively communicate with printers, vendors, and fabricators as needed
- Ensure design accuracy and quality through production
- Conduct frequent and rigorous internal print tests; prepare designs for reviews in Studio
- Help maintain and organize systems for reviewing samples and proofs
- Help maintain centralized project databases
- Convey clear status of all files and tasks; help ensure assets are coded, accurate, and organized
- Ensure project files are structured and organized consistently on the shared Studio server
- Expand and maintain knowledge of current print production materials, techniques, and processes
- Assist in designing and maintaining clear presentation decks
- Contribute to personal growth and support peers’ development
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or equivalent experience
- 2–3 years of professional design experience for physical environments/exhibitions
- Excellent typographic and layout skills
- Experience creating graphic systems and design guidelines
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
- Strong Photoshop skills (e.g., creating high fidelity visuals, retouching, resizing, up-resing, etc.)
- Figma skills
- Illustration skills (strongly preferred)
- Familiarity/experience with Google Slides and/or Keynote
- Familiarity/experience with CAD, Rhino, Blender, or other 3D visualization tools is a plus
- Familiarity/experience with After Effects, Cinema 4D, or other motion design tools is a plus
- Familiarity/experience with Airtable or other project management software a plus
- Collaborative, proactive, and effective communicator—excellent visual and verbal skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while working with a range of interdisciplinary teams

- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
- Eligibility to work in the United States
- Ability to work onsite in our NYC studio (hybrid)
- Primary Residence in the NY Tri-State (NY/NJ/CT) area or D.C. Tri-State (DC/VA/MD) area
Salary: 70K to 80K (contingent on experience)
