AHEAD is searching for a Virtualization & Compute Engineer to be a part of our Managed Services team. Candidates will be primarily responsible for the overall health and maintenance of virtualization and compute products in our managed services customer environments. Candidates will serve as a valued member of the Managed Services Virtualization team, providing tier2level support for virtualization technologies. The ideal candidate should be eager to learn, customer focused, an effective communicator, self-initiating and able to perform most tasks without direct oversight.
Roles and Responsibilities
Provide enterprise-level operational support for incidents, problem, and change management activities
Investigate and triage technical events and requests needing additional resources
Intelligently escalate issues to level 3 engineering
Work across technical teams to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues
Work with vendors to resolve virtualization and compute issues
Plan and perform maintenance activities
Create and maintain detailed documentation
Ensure that clients' infrastructure is healthy, stable, documented, and configured with accepted technical best practices
Communicate with customers and internal teams with transparency
Participate in on-call rotation
Complete training and certification as assigned to further skills and knowledge
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Information Systems or related field (Unique education, specialized experience, skills, knowledge, training, or certification may be substituted)
5+ yrs of experience with Virtualization technologies
Experience with VMware vSphere/VVF required
Experience with Nutanix AHV preferred
Experience with Microsoft Hyper-V preferred
5+ yrs of experience with operational administration of IT systems
5+yrs of experience with performance monitoring tools (LogicMonitor, Elastic, etc.)
5+ yrs of experience with an enterprise ITSM system. ServiceNow preferred
Experience with Cisco UCS and Dell hardware systems required
Familiarity with Dell PowerFlex/PowerStore/VxRail preferred
Operating System skills with Windows and Linux preferred
Understanding of PowerShell and PowerCLI. Ability to create and utilize scripts preferred
Managed services or consulting experience preferred
VMware Certified Professional certification required
ITILv4 certification preferred
