POSITION PURPOSE:

As Video Editor/Producer, you'll be at the heart of our storytelling efforts, creating compelling visual content that brings stories of hope and renewal from our projects around to life; inspiring action to drive our reforestation mission forward. You'll shepherd projects from concept to completion, crafting videos that educate, entertain, engage, and motivate our global community. Working collaboratively with an award-winning Photo/Video team in our highly engaged Marketing Communications department, you'll produce diverse content for multiple platforms; including promotional videos, social media reels, documentary shorts, project stories, and digital advertisements that bring our restoration work to life and strengthen the One Tree Planted brand.


This role requires the consistent use of creative judgement, artistic skills, and original storytelling.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

Video Pre-Production (30%):

  • Research subject matter and gather background information to inform compelling storytelling.
  • Develop and write creative briefs, treatments, video outlines, and scripts that align with organizational goals and audience needs.
  • Collaborate with the Photo/Video Coordinator on field shoot production, including writing interview questions, contributing to budget creation, and other pre-production tasks.
  • Create storyboards and shot lists to guide production and ensure an efficient, cohesive creative workflow.


Video Editing & Post-Production (30%):

  • Edit and assemble raw footage, music, graphics, sound effects, and photographs into polished, engaging video content optimized for various platforms and audiences
  • Maintain brand consistency while adapting content for different channels (social media, website, presentations, fundraising campaigns).


Motion Graphics & Visual Effects (10%)

  • Design and animate motion graphics, title sequences, and visual effects that enhance storytelling and elevate production quality.
  • Create reusable templates and assets that can be efficiently adapted across multiple projects.


Collaboration & Communication (10%)

  • Partner with videographers, graphic designers, content creators, ad team, and web team members to develop develop cohesive visual campaigns
  • Receive and implement feedback constructively while maintaining a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
  • Collaborate across multiple departments including Fundraising, Projects, and Corporate Development.
  • Participate in creative brainstorming sessions and contribute innovative ideas for photo/video content.


Project & Asset Management (10%)

  • Juggle multiple creative projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality standards.
  • Organize and maintain video assets, project files, and storage systems for easy team accessibility.
  • Communicate proactively about project timelines, challenges, and resource needs


Innovation & Growth (10%)

  • Stay current with emerging trends in video production, editing techniques, and platform-specific requirements and best practices.
  • Propose creative approaches to storytelling that amplify our environmental impact message.
  • Support fellow team members during high-priority periods and share knowledge across the team.



POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:
BACHELOR’S DEGREE or acceptable combination of equivalent experience

RELATED EXPERIENCE: Minimum 5 years experience of professional video editing experience (nonprofit or missing driven experience preferred).

  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, After effects, Photoshop)
  • Strong Creative writing and script skills. 
  • Experience with remote editing workflows and shared filed systems 
  • Excellent project management and time management skills. 
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality

SKILLS:

  • Experience producing content for broadcast TV, documentary, digital ads, or investigative style storytelling. 
  • Understanding of platform optimization and SEO for Youtube, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn.
  • Experience with project management tools such as Airtable, Monday.com, Trello, or similar. 
  • Creative problem solver with a positive solutions oriented mindset 
  • Strong communicator and comfortable working independently in a remote setting
  • Adaptable and comfortable with evolving priorities
  • Genuine passion for environmental causes and storytelling for impact. 


COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

COMPENSATION:  typical starting range is $70,000 - $75,000 USD (Local currency) which will be based on skills and experience. Annual performance increase may be available but not guaranteed.
