The Video Editor / Cinematic Artist is a creative craftsman within Techland’s Creative Services, responsible for transforming concepts into visually stunning, emotionally charged trailers and video assets. You are the filmmaker and editor, owning the end-to-end process from capture to final edit. This is a hands-on craft role requiring a balance of technical precision and artistic storytelling—combining cinematography, sound, and pacing to deliver world-class marketing content that defines Techland’s visual identity.
You are a self-sufficient creator who thrives in the edit suite and the engine, capable of delivering polished, industry-leading trailers from an abstract script.
Key Responsibilities

- Capture high-quality, mood-appropriate gameplay and cinematic footage directly in the game engine, staging shots and choreographing camera movements.
- Collaborate with the Art Director and Producer to interpret briefs and define cinematic goals.
- Apply advanced cinematic editing techniques, mastering visual flow, pacing, and emotional storytelling.
- Design and integrate sound and music, synchronizing audio to create immersive and engaging experiences.
- Direct simple motion capture sequences and integrate performance data when required.
- Implement motion graphics and visual transitions that reinforce narrative and brand identity.
- Optimize final video output for multiple platforms and formats (4K, social, console stores).
- Stay current with industry trends and new tools, continually pushing creative boundaries in capture and post-production.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in video editing and cinematic production, ideally within the gaming, film, or entertainment industry
- Mastery of industry-standard editing and compositing software, including Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, and related toolsets
- Proficiency with real-time game engines (Unreal Engine, Unity, or proprietary) for cinematic capture and camera work
- Strong understanding of cinematography, lighting, and visual composition, with a director’s eye for framing and movement
- Experience in sound design and audio editing, with an ability to layer, mix, and synchronize sound and music to picture
- Ability to work with mocap data or direct simple performance capture sessions.
- Excellent sense of pacing, rhythm, and emotional storytelling, able to craft cohesive narrative beats through editing
- Comfort working independently, taking ownership of the full creative process from start to finish
- Collaborative and adaptable, capable of taking feedback and improving iterations quickly.
- Fluent in English, with strong communication and documentation skills
- Portfolio demonstrating finished trailers or cinematic sequences, ideally for AAA or high-quality independent productions
