Job Role: Video Editor 

Compensation range: $1,500 AUD - $1,800 AUD / Monthly

Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement

Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time

Role Overview: We’re looking for a creative and skilled Video Editor who can bring strong storytelling and fresh ideas to our content. This isn’t just about cutting clips—it’s about crafting videos that keep viewers hooked from the first second to the last. A big part of the role is using audio and music as storytelling devices, so strong audio editing skills are essential. On top of that, we’re looking for someone who can deliver polished edits with the added impact of quality VFX at this price point.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Edit videos with a strong sense of narrative flow, using J-cuts, transitions, motion effects, VFX, and other techniques to elevate storytelling.
• Integrate audio and music as part of the storytelling, not just background—ensuring sound design enhances the pacing and emotional pull.
• Create content tailored to YouTube and other digital-first platforms (short- and long-form).
• Proactively bring new ideas for making videos more engaging, memorable, and shareable.
• Work with raw footage to deliver polished final edits that hold attention and deliver impact.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience editing for YouTube or digital-first platforms.
• Strong sense of pacing, narrative structure, and visual storytelling.
• Creativity and originality (beyond template-based editing).
• Strong audio editing and sound design skills.
• Ability to suggest and experiment with new concepts, formats, and techniques.
• Technical expertise with industry-standard editing software.
• Ability to create and integrate high-quality VFX into edits.
