Position Overview

The DATS Business Partner Lead serves as a cross-functional project manager and “player-coach,” engaging with assigned business groups to translate operational needs into data, workflow, and technology solutions.  The Business Partner Lead is part of a global peer network of Business Partners focused on success in three cross-functional areas: data and technology adoption, workflow standardization, and shared information flows.  The Business Partner Lead marries strategy and execution, identifying root causes upstream; defining project specifications and coordinating execution with DATS; and implementing outcomes downstream with business stakeholders, holding accountability for results. At the Vice President level, the Business Partner Lead role may carry junior team member management responsibilities and provide coverage across multiple cross-functioning business groups.

Essential Job Functions – The Business Partner Lead:

  • Works closely with assigned business groups and DATS technical teams in defining project priorities, scope, approach, resource requirements and related timelines. Business groups range across Finance, FP&A, Accounting & Treasury, Tax, Legal/Compliance, Business Development, Client Onboarding, Reporting and Product Operations teams.
  • Owns the full lifecycle of a cross-functional project, from requirements definition through implementation, change management, adoption, and value measurement. Works with business group stakeholders and DATS to ensure objectives are met and participating team members are held accountable to assignments
  • Drives current-state assessments of business groups’ key workflows, data dependencies, and technology inefficiencies; teases out root cause factors, develops gap analyses, future-state recommendations, and design of strategic projects for consideration by DATS leadership
  • Identifies opportunities to revamp existing workflows or create new workflows by leveraging emerging AI capabilities; partners with business group stakeholders and DATS to evaluate, design, and implement AI-driven solutions that improve operational efficiency, reduce manual effort, and enhance decision-making across the organization
  • Coordinates closely with DATS technical teams (engineering, data, and reporting analytics) to translate stakeholder requirements into compatible project specifications and resource-effective execution
  • Designs and oversees the delivery of advanced reporting, dashboards, and shared intelligence infrastructure serving stakeholders’ decision-making needs (Power BI, Snowflake, Salesforce, proprietary systems, AI, etc.)
  • Builds and maintains deep, trusted relationships with business group stakeholders; represents stakeholders’ interests within DATS planning and Business Partner peer network forums
  • Identifies, documents, and escalates cross-system data quality and governance issues that affect the stakeholder reporting integrity or operational reliability
  • Mentors junior team members and contributes to Business Partner peer network knowledge management, intake frameworks, and cross-stakeholder insight sharing

Experience & Factors For Success:

  • 10+ years of experience in financial services, preferably within private markets and alternative asset management
  • Knowledge of fund structures, operations, accounting, and reporting for alternatives/private market strategies
  • Experience implementing cross-functional initiatives spanning people, process, data, and technology-enabled dimensions
  • Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills; ability to structure ambiguous problems, cut through to root causes, and develop actionable solutions
  • Ability to lead teams in defining needs and priorities, while adapting approach and communication style across stakeholders and functions
  • Strong attention to detail and proven ability to work with heavy data output, sanity checking results before submitting to stakeholder review
  • A positive attitude, dogged determination and accountable mindset in delivering projects on time and within budget
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Power Platform skills (Power BI experience a plus)
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and perform under deadlines in a dynamic environment
