Overall purpose and responsibilities of the role:

The Vice President of Retail is a senior executive who oversees and leads all aspects of a company’s retail operations. He / She plays a critical role in developing and implementing retail strategies, driving business growth, and ensuring the overall success of the company’s retail division. The Vice President of Retail reports directly to the President and collaborates with other senior executives to align retail goals with the company’s overall vision

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Retail Strategy and Vision:

Develop and execute the company’s retail strategy, aligning it with the organization’s overall goals and objectives.Set a compelling vision for the retail division and provide strategic direction to achieve business growth and profitability.

2. Performance Management:

Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for retail operations, assessing performance, and identifying opportunities for improvement.

3. Financial Management:

Oversee the financial performance of the retail division, optimizing retail prices, managing budgets, expenses, and maximizing non fuels revenue.

4. Dealer Management

Select, train, motivate, grow and replace retail station dealers taking in a manner that supports the overall retail strategic plans.

5. Market Analysis:

Stay informed about retail industry trends, market changes, and customer preferences to identify new opportunities and competitive advantages.

6. Retail Expansion and Growth:

Evaluate potential markets and opportunities for retail expansion, and develop plans to enter new markets or open new sites.

7. Retail Operations and Excellence:

Ensure that retail operations and processes are optimized to provide an exceptional customer experience. Implement best practices and operational efficiencies across all retail locations.

8. Retail Marketing and Promotion:

Work with marketing teams to develop and execute effective retail marketing campaigns and promotions.

9. Non Fuels Retail:

Provide strategic direction in growing the non fuels revenue of the business.

10. Team Leadership:

Lead and mentor the retail management team, fostering a culture of high performance and accountability.

11. Customer Relations:

Prioritize customer satisfaction and continuously enhance the customer experience in retail stores.

12. Retail Construction and Maintenance

Provide strategic inputs to the engineering teams handling retail design, construction and maintenance.

13. Business Expansion and Acquisitions:

Evaluate potential retail business acquisitions or partnerships to support growth strategies.

Requirements

Must-have Skills / Qualification:  

  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration, retail management, or a related field is typically required. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications may be preferred.
  • Several years of experience in a senior retail leadership role, with a track record of successful retail strategy execution.
  • Preferably with experience working in the Oil & Gas, Retail, Food & Beverage Multinational companies that has similar structure.
  • Experienced in handling a large team.
  • Strong leadership capabilities, including the ability to provide vision and strategic direction to the retail division.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis, budget management, and understanding financial metrics and KPIs.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the retail industry, including market trends and best practices.
  • Proven ability to make informed and timely decisions to address retail challenges and opportunities.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to interact with executive management, stakeholders, and retail teams.
  • A customer-centric approach to ensure the retail division meets and exceeds customer expectations.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing market conditions, consumer preferences, and business priorities.
