What are the job responsibilities?
The Vice President of People is a senior executive leader responsible for transforming the people function into a strategic engine that drives organizational health, culture, and performance across Cadre Hospice. This role partners closely with the CEO and executive leadership team to ensure Cadre attracts, develops, and retains exceptional talent while honoring our commitment to compassionate, compliant, and world-class end-of-life care.
Unlike operational leadership roles focused on day-to-day clinical execution, the VP of People focuses on human capital strategy, building systems, leaders, and culture that enable our teams to thrive while delivering exceptional care to patients and families.
This leader brings both heart and rigor, balancing empathy with accountability, culture with performance, and growth with compliance in a highly regulated healthcare environment.
Strategic People Leadership
- Design and execute a comprehensive people strategy aligned with Cadre’s mission, values, and long-term growth objectives
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and executive team on organizational design, leadership development, workforce planning, and change management
- Translate business strategy into scalable people systems that support multi-market growth
Culture & Employee Experience
- Champion and protect Cadre’s people-first, high-touch culture rooted in compassion, accountability, and excellence
- Drive leadership behaviors that reflect Cadre’s values at every level of the organization
- Build an employee experience that fosters engagement, belonging, development, and retention
Talent Management & Leadership Development
- Oversee talent acquisition strategies that attract mission-aligned, high-performing clinical and non-clinical talent
- Design leadership development pathways for frontline leaders, directors, and executive talent
- Implement succession planning and internal mobility strategies to support long-term organizational stability
Performance Management & Development
- Build and evolve performance management systems that are clear, fair, and development-oriented
- Ensure leaders are equipped to coach, develop, and hold teams accountable with clarity and care
- Align performance, growth, and recognition to business outcomes and cultural expectations
Compensation, Benefits & Total Rewards
- Design and oversee competitive, compliant compensation and benefits programs aligned with market benchmarks and organizational strategy
- Partner with Finance to ensure fiscal responsibility, scalability, and transparency in people investments
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, healthcare regulations, and accreditation standards
- Proactively manage risk related to employment practices, employee relations, and workforce policies
- Maintain policies and practices that reflect both regulatory requirements and Cadre’s values
Organizational Development & Design
- Lead organizational design initiatives that improve clarity, efficiency, and accountability
- Support integration efforts during acquisitions or market expansions, ensuring cultural alignment and smooth transitions
- Partner with leaders to assess structure, roles, and workflows as the organization evolves
People Analytics & Workforce Insights
- Leverage people data and analytics to inform decision-making, workforce planning, and leadership strategies
- Track and report on key metrics including engagement, retention, performance trends, and talent pipelines
What do you need?
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration or related field required
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 8-10 years progressive HR leadership including organizational development, talent acquisition and culture management
- Experience in hospice/home care/healthcare related field preferred
- Commitment to the organization's mission and values, with a passion for providing compassionate care to patients and families facing end-of-life issues.
