The Vice President of Mergers & Acquisitions (VP, M&A) will lead Cadre Hospice’s inorganic growth strategy, overseeing the full lifecycle of acquisitions from sourcing and diligence through transaction execution and integration oversight. This role is critical to scaling Cadre’s footprint while preserving culture, clinical excellence, and operational discipline.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the VP, M&A will serve as a strategic partner to executive leadership and private equity stakeholders, ensuring acquisitions align with Cadre’s long-term vision, financial thresholds, and patient-centered mission.
This leader must balance analytical rigor with pragmatic execution, bringing strong judgment, credibility, and operational fluency to every deal.
Key Responsibilities:
Deal Strategy & Pipeline Development
- Develop and manage Cadre’s M&A pipeline in alignment with enterprise growth priorities.
- Proactively source acquisition opportunities through banker relationships, founder outreach, and industry networks.
- Evaluate market entry and tuck-in opportunities across existing and target geographies.
- Partner with the CEO and Board to refine acquisition criteria, return thresholds, and capital deployment strategy.
Financial Analysis & Valuation
- Lead valuation modeling, underwriting, and return analysis including EBITDA normalization, synergy assumptions, and downside scenarios.
- Assess deal structures, purchase agreements, earn-outs, and working capital considerations.
- Prepare investment memoranda and recommendation materials for executive leadership and Board review.
- Ensure disciplined adherence to valuation frameworks and risk-adjusted returns.
Due Diligence Leadership
- Own the end-to-end diligence process including financial, operational, clinical, regulatory, compliance, HR, and IT workstreams.
- Coordinate internal leaders and external advisors including legal, accounting, quality of earnings, and regulatory partners.
- Identify risks, integration considerations, and mitigation strategies early in the process.
- Synthesize diligence findings into clear, actionable executive-level insights.
Transaction Execution
- Support negotiation of LOIs, definitive agreements, and closing documentation.
- Manage transaction timelines, data rooms, and stakeholder communication.
- Partner closely with legal counsel to ensure regulatory compliance and clean execution.
- Serve as Cadre’s internal quarterback throughout the transaction lifecycle.
Integration Oversight
- Partner with operations, clinical leadership, finance, HR, and IT to ensure smooth post-close integration.
- Translate diligence findings into actionable integration priorities and Day 1 readiness plans.
- Monitor post-acquisition performance against underwriting assumptions.
- Identify opportunities to drive value creation while protecting patient experience and culture.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred.
- 8–12+ years of experience in M&A, corporate development, private equity, investment banking, or healthcare strategy.
- Direct experience executing healthcare services transactions; hospice, home health, or post-acute preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex, multi-workstream diligence processes.
- Strong financial modeling, valuation, and deal structuring expertise.
- Proven track record of partnering with senior executives and private equity stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of regulatory, reimbursement, and compliance considerations in healthcare.
