Encore Renewable Energy seeks a VP of Asset Management, leading all aspects of the Technical Asset Management (TAM) team, while aligning with Encore’s Engineering and Finance teams. The VP of Asset Management will play a key leadership role as the company scales its operating portfolio.  The position is responsible for maximizing the long-term value, performance and reliability of the company’s operating renewable energy portfolio. This role owns the strategy, execution and continuous improvement of asset management functions across safety, availability, energy production, financial performance, compliance, and reporting requirements.  The VP of Asset Management serves as the internal owner of operating assets from Commercial Operation through end of life, ensuring assets perform in-line with pro-forma expectations while identifying opportunities to improve returns. This role is critical to enhancing asset value, ensuring investor confidence, and feeding operational lessons back into project design and development. This role will report to the CEO of the company.  Your Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership & Organizational Development
  • Build, lead and scale the Asset Management team to support a growing portfolio
  • Develop Asset Management focused policies, procedures and controls
  • Provide leadership to current team, establishing clear roles, responsibilities, and pathways for career growth and opportunities
  • Support the company culture while fostering accountability, data driven decision making and continuous improvement 
  • Cross functional Leadership
  • Act as primary interface between Business Development, Project Development, Engineering/Construction, Financial Asset Management, and C-Suite teams 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance data-driven decision-making, maximize asset performance, help evaluate acquisition opportunities and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Provide operational feedback to engineering and development teams to improve future project performance
  • Act as a supporting technical interface with financing partners
  • Portfolio Performance and Optimization
  • Development of Encore’s long-term system architecture for asset data integration, monitoring, analytics and visualization. 
  • Define scalable processes for performance analytics, root cause analysis, loss assessment, benchmarking and corrective action planning of operating projectsEstablish and own standardized, repeatable, and auditable operational reporting across the portfolio
  • Transform raw performance data into clear executive-level and asset-level insights, highlighting risks, trends, and corrective actionsDrive continuous improvement initiatives to increase production and reduce losses (availability, curtailment, soiling, snow, shading, equipment issues, etc.)
  • Oversee warranty and performance guarantees
  • Oversee DAS and SCADA provider platforms ensuring data accuracy, reliability and usabilityEstablish best practices for performance reporting to stakeholders
  • Establish best practices for BESS performance monitoring, diagnostics and reporting (dispatch analytics, merchant/ISO regulated service performance, capacity/degradation testing and tracking, and cycle analysis)
  • Financial & Commercial Oversight
  • Partner with Financial Asset Management on project operating budgets and forecasts
  • Monitor operational drivers of actuals vs budgeted and support clear, technically grounded explanations to financiers and stakeholdersImplement value added O&M strategies and incentives to increase energy production
  • Support compliance with PPA and offtake agreements, including meter validation and operational requirements
  • Assist Financial Asset Management and Finance with asset valuation, audits lender reporting and technical due diligence
  • Asset Lifestyle Management
  • Develop and own the project on-boarding process at energization, ensuring proper handoff from Engineering and Construction to Asset Management
  • Manage assets from energization through end-of-lifeDevelop long term maintenance strategies, including transformer DGA analysis plan, inverter replacement plans, repowering and project life extension options 
  • Develop processes and controls for asset documentation, technical records and data integrityWork with team to develop a spare parts plan and implementation
  • Risk, Compliance and Governance
  • Ensure compliance with offtake contracts, IA’s, permits, warranties, and regulatory requirements 
  • Oversee environmental, safety and operational risk management strategiesServe as the primary operational owner of insurance matters associated with the operating asset portfolio
  • Provide technical and operational input into the placement, renewal, and structuring of project-level insurance programs 

  • Your Areas of Knowledge and Expertise
  • 15+ years in the renewable energy industry. 
  • 10+ years of direct experience in a commercial power generation asset management role.   
  • Prior leadership experience, managing teams and cross-functional stakeholders. 
  • Strong technical understanding of Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage systems
  • Experience with data collection systems, SCADA, monitoring, monthly reporting and operation and maintenance functions.
  • Experience managing operating portfolios, energy performance, operating budgets, financial performance and lender requirements
  • Understanding weather-adjusted vs actual/measured performance and how best to identify causes of deviation and communicate underperformance to external stakeholders
  • Experience with Salesforce or other CMMS software
  • Detail-oriented, strong analytical, communication and presentation skillsCommitment to personal learning, growth and development

    $175,000 – $220,000 per year
