We are seeking a talented and experienced Visual Effects Editor to join our PXO Germany team, based out of our studio in Stuttgart.  As a Visual Effects Editor, you will play a crucial role in the post-production process, working closely with our VFX team to create stunning visual effects sequences for our projects.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Visual Effects Editor or a related post-production role
  • Proficiency in DaVinci Resolve and Adobe video and photo editing packages
  • Familiarity with shot tracking database system Shotgrid, Excel, and other productivity software tools
  • Strong understanding of the visual effects process and terminology
  • Excellent knowledge of editing techniques, colour grading, and compositing
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and meet project deadlines
  • Detail-oriented with a keen eye for visual storytelling and composition
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the VFX team to understand project requirements and objectives.
  • Manage sequence and shot turnovers to VFX, including all VFX elements and reference plates.
  • Generate count sheets, plate line-up information, and translate data into the online shot tracking database (ShotGrid). 
  • Perform media preparation and format conversions to meet show needs in cooperation with pipeline.
  • Create reference sequences to represent directors' creative intent for each shot, at correct frame length, for final delivery. 
  • Manage and document the turnover of shots from editorial through to delivery including ingesting new media into pipeline.
  • Communicate with client editorial and track all stages of the client cuts.
  • Update sequences with any changes to the cut and communicate changes to the VFX team.  
  • Output JPEG shot frames to Production for storyboarding and Production database use.
  • Cut in VFX works in progress and finals into master cut sequences, confirm timing, line-ups, and that the work matches what was requested in shot turnover sheets.   
  • Quality control checks of all VFX shots as shots are submitted for reviews.   
  • Host any necessary VFX editorial review for VFX supervisors, as well as editors and directors.   
  • Maintain database of shot turnover sheets, as well as shot finals sheets, to be used as documentation for final conform. 
  • Show wrap-up including finals reel, layoff of movie files and consolidating media.
  • Communicate effectively with the VFX team to address any technical issues or challenges.
  • Maintain a high level of quality and attention to detail in all aspects of visual effects editing.
