The Vetting Specialist is responsible for compliance and the implementation of Ampol vetting criteria for voyage and time-chartered ships.  You will be responsible for various Marine Assurance activities for Ampol Group like Vessel screening, Terminal location clearance, STS location clearance, TMSA reviews, MTMSA reviews. You will provide 24x7 support to various internal stakeholders across group as per business requirement. Provide regular inputs/feedback on new industry requirements and upgrading/implementing same in screening process upon approval. 

 

Provide support to operations department for various marine matters. Contribute in reviewing Company marine procedures and provide input for continuous improvement. 

 

Key responsibilities

  • Maintaining Ampol Marine Assurance System up to date.  
  • Developing, reviewing and controlling Ampol marine specific operations procedures and policies. 
  • Managing safety audits, inspection and qualification of Ampol-controlled tanker vessels, barges and load / discharge ports related to Ampol’s Trading and Shipping business. 
  • Conduct TMSA, MTMSA and SPSA reviews as assigned by Marine Manger. 
  • Follow up on Terminal Feedback received from Ampol Group terminals. 
  • Organize and conduct monthly meetings with assigned terminals. 
  • Monitoring the operational, environmental and safety performance of Ampol time charter vessels. 
  • Being a part of the emergency management team for any marine incidents for Ampol Group chartered vessels. 
  • Providing on-call 24x7 support to discuss and resolve vessel clearance issues and incidents.

 

Qualifications

  • Have obtained Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency  
  • Minimum 3 years shore-based experience managing HSEQ / Vessel operations / Marine Assurance experience. Oil/Chemical/Gas tanker experience with at least 5 years of service on board tankers out of which 2 years must be as senior shipboard officer.  
  • Auditing experience will be an added advantage.
  • You must have strong communications and collaboration skills and able to work autonomously. 
  • In depth understanding of all shipboard operations. 
  • Strong knowledge of voyage management, contracting and chartering terms 
  • Strong understanding of petroleum product shipping and oil tanker operations. 
  • Competition and Consumer Act (Australia) and Consumer Protection Act (Singapore) compliant and has an understanding of the requirements of other relevant regulations. 
  • Sound understanding of the Petroleum Supply Chain process including key drivers of value. 
  • Attention to detail. 
  • Strong procedural discipline. 
  • Strong problem solving skills. 
  • Efficient and flexible. 
  • Ability to collaborate across the business. 
  • Highly committed. 
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
