Vehicle Systems Engineer
TLDR
Lead integration and ensure reliability of vehicle systems while collaborating with cross-functional teams to support the full product lifecycle of autonomous, zero-emissions haulers.
Develop system architectures, interface definitions, and integration plans for vehicle subsystems.
Lead integration of key cross-discipline systems within the autonomous and electric vehicle platform.
Perform system-level analysis, including performance, safety, reliability, and fault tolerance.
Work with the larger engineering team to define and manage system-level requirements for vehicle platforms
Work with team to specify and source critical components
Support design reviews and ensure alignment between subsystem teams during development.
Plan and execute vehicle-level testing, validation, and troubleshooting.
Identify integration risks and implement mitigation strategies throughout development.
Collaborate with hardware and software teams to ensure system compatibility.
Support root cause analysis and resolution of system-level issues during testing and deployment.
Contribute to documentation including requirements, test plans, and technical reports.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in vehicle systems engineering, robotics platforms, or complex electromechanical systems.
Experience with integration of complex systems involving mechanical, electrical, and software.
Strong interest in quickly learning about new complex systems
Familiarity with requirements management and systems engineering practices.
Experience with testing, validation, and troubleshooting integrated systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose cross-disciplinary issues.
Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across engineering teams.
Eligible to work in the United States
Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience working with passenger cars, commercial trucks, or robotic vehicle platforms.
Experience working with vendors delivering key components
Experience with automotive chassis controls, drive-by-wire and/or electric powertrain systems.
Experience with vehicle communication protocols (e.g., CAN, Ethernet).
Experience with system modeling tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink).
Experience supporting hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) or vehicle-level validation testing.
Background in safety-critical systems or functional safety standards.
Experience working in fast-paced startup or product development environments.
