TLDR

Manage complex system administration tasks across diverse environments while enhancing infrastructure performance and ensuring security compliance.

Role Responsibilities:

- Perform system administration and maintenance in a heterogeneous environment, including production, disaster recovery (DR), and test environments, comprising Sun Solaris servers and Linux-based servers.
- Carry out system upgrades and enhancements on IT infrastructure components to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Implement operating system and product-specific security hardening measures, as well as apply necessary patches to maintain system security.
- Monitor the obsolescence of IT infrastructure components and systems, ensuring timely updates and replacements as needed.
- Track the expiry and manage the renewal of system passwords and certificates to maintain system integrity and security.
- Establish and implement a schedule for system backups and database archive operations to ensure data recoverability and support business continuity.
- Develop and implement disaster recovery plans for IT infrastructure systems, and conduct regular disaster recovery testing and component switch-over exercises to ensure the usability of standby and DR equipment.
- Manage the application User Acceptance Test (UAT) process and maintain the UAT environment for ongoing testing needs.
- Provide technical support and guidance (level 3) to end-users and other IT resources, addressing complex technical issues.
- Deliver second-level system support, resolving incidents and problems in accordance with established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Diagnose problems related to incidents, propose solutions, and implement measures to prevent recurrence.

Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 to 5 years of experience in system administration and support, specifically in Middleware, Unix, and Linux systems.
- Experience working with Storage Area Networks (SAN) for Unix and Linux platforms.
- Proven experience in performing operating system hardening and patching.
- Familiarity with enterprise backup solutions and system monitoring and management software.
- Proficiency in scripting for Unix and Linux-based environments to automate administrative tasks.
- Knowledge of database administration and data centre operations is an advantage.
- Willingness to provide 24/7 support on a rostered basis.
