Underground Shift Electrician

Position Objectives

• To carry out preventative and breakdown maintenance on underground mining electrical equipment.
• To install and maintain underground electrical, high voltage, low voltage and communication infrastructure.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Production/Operational:

• Work as part of a highly driven team committed to the safe production of gold.
• Diagnosing faults or breakdowns.
• Undertaking repairs or component change-outs as required to minimise mining electrical equipment downtime.
• Support the asset management plan by carrying out scheduled electrical maintenance inspections.
• Maintain high levels of housekeeping in the work area; maintains and keeps tools clean.
• Inspect and maintain underground pumping systems.
• Assist with the installation and commissioning of a new underground pumping station.

Reporting and Planning:

• Completes all documentation accurately.

• New Zealand Electrical Practicing licence.
• Preferably hold or have the correct skills and experience to obtain an Electrical Mining endorsement.
• Working at heights and previous HV experience desirable.
• Full Driver Licence, competent with driving manual vehicles.

Experience:                   

• At least 2 years relevant underground mining or heavy industrial experience preferable.
