A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated and energetic Heavy Diesel Fitter to join our Underground Maintenance Team at the Waihi Operation.

Working autonomously as well as part of a dynamic team, you will gain and expand your experience and knowledge of underground mining whilst working an attractive even time roster. Rotating 7 days on, 7 days off (Dayshift/Nightshift).

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Perform a range of preventative and breakdown maintenance tasks on mining equipment including Loaders, Development/Production Drills, Haul Trucks and Ancillary Plant and Equipment.
  • Ensure all equipment is mechanically and electronically maintained in accordance with company and site policies and procedures.
  • Complete scheduled tasks and service inspections as planned to a high standard of quality which maintains the integrity of the equipment and does not compromise safety.
  • Maintain legible and accurate maintenance records and documentation.
  • Source technical information from the relevant OEM manuals, technical bulletins, and service documentation.
  • Actively promote, seek out and participate in drives that will lead to improvements in safety, productivity, and cost effectiveness.
  • Mechanical Trade Qualification.
  • Experience working on Heavy Mobile Plant.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills in hydraulic systems and electrical circuits.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A full and current Driver Licence with the ability to drive manual vehicles.
