Our team combines technical expertise with practical problem solving to turn architectural and engineering plans into reliable, buildable solutions, all while maintaining a focus on precision, compliance, and efficiency.

Role Overview: We are seeking a Senior Timber Truss & Frame Detailer to lead the design, detailing, and/or estimating of timber truss and wall frame projects from construction plans through to manufacturing and site delivery. This role requires strong technical capability, a practical problem-solving mindset, and the ability to work closely with builders, engineers, and internal production teams while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with Australian building codes and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own end-to-end timber truss and frame estimating and/or detailing, replacing outsourced services with faster, more accurate, and reliable delivery.
  • Interpret architectural plans, engineering documentation, specifications, and Australian standards to produce compliant designs.
  • Develop accurate truss, wall frame, roof, and floor layouts using MiTek Sapphire (or similar), optimised for structural performance, correct product usage, cost efficiency, and manufacturability.
  • Prepare final designs, BOQs, and detailed site documentation suitable for production and installation, while managing a high weekly inquiry volume.
  • Work closely with builders, engineers, architects, and internal production teams to resolve design issues, coordinate changes, and ensure buildable outcomes.
  • Respond quickly to design revisions caused by production constraints, errors, or site conditions, minimising rework and delays.
  • Perform thorough quality checks on all detailing and estimating outputs to ensure compliance with NCC and relevant timber standards.
  • Maintain accurate job records and contribute to improving detailing workflows, QA processes, and systems.
  • Support and mentor junior detailers, setting high standards for accuracy, communication, and teamwork..

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Advanced proficiency in timber truss and frame detailing software (MiTek Sapphire preferred), with experience using engineered timber design tools such as Hyne Design, AutoBeam, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of Australian building codes, NCC, and timber engineering principles, with the ability to apply them in practical, buildable designs.
  • Proven experience in timber truss and frame detailing and/or estimating, ideally within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering residential and/or light commercial projects.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a practical, production-focused mindset and the ability to respond effectively to design changes.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy, with strong quality and compliance awareness.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to liaise confidently with builders, engineers, clients, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills, capable of managing multiple jobs and deadlines in a high-volume environment.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team.
  • Leadership capability, with experience mentoring or supporting junior detailers (preferred).
  • Relevant qualifications in building design, drafting, construction, or a related field (preferred but not essential).

This is a remote role that will be set up as an independent contractor engagement.

To ensure alignment and transparency, successful candidates will be expected to:
