The Opportunity
The Athletics and Recreation department is looking for Sprint Coaches for the Trojans Running Team. Working closely with the coaching staff, this position plays an integral role in Trojans success.
Position Summary:
• Training & Event support/leadership as required
• Weekends and evening work expectations over the course of a season
• Travel demands considered part of the Coaching Staff portfolio
• Off court/ice/pitch/race duties considered part of the Coaching portfolio
• Positions range from 5-30 hours per week of billable webtime entry
The Role
Key responsibilities and major duties include, but are not limited to:
Program Management Support
Support Head Coach with administrative, logistical, financial & personnel requirements for the program
Assist with all team related activities along with support from Trojans admin & assigned sport coordinator
Coaching
Create an environment that is aligned with SAIT FIRST principles and fosters holistic growth of student athletes & staff
Create a culture of excellence that motivates athletes & staff to strive for their best in all aspects of being a part of Trojans programming
Conduct effective practices & training sessions that allow student-athletes to improve, while providing enough time for academics & generalized success as a student-athlete
Work directly with Head Athletic Therapist to ensure YTP is conducive to injury prevention & peak health throughout the season
Administration
Adhere to all Trojans & league requirements regarding athlete onboarding each season (Transfers, LOIs, Nominations, Required training/education sessions etc.)
Adhere to SAIT policies, procedures and protocols including p-card purchasing, webtime entry, mandatory SafeSport training facility access controls, ID card presentations, brand alignment and respectful workplace related expectations
Team scheduling, planning and structuring including communications
Submit required documentation in a timely fashion
Submit compliance related formalities in a progressive fashion
EDI, Safesport & SAIT Engagement
Support and promote SAIT & Trojans initiatives not directly tied to athletic pursuits
Advancement of a #wearetrojans mentality
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum of High School Diploma is required; a Degree or Diploma in a related program is an asset
NCCP Registration and pursuit of sport specific training are required
NCCP Entry Level sport specific training is preferred
Skills Required
Enthusiastic, passion for sport-minded individuals with a focus on student-athlete development individuals
Ability to work within a team and communicate accordingly
