General Description:

The Total Rewards Partner is an integral member of the People and Culture (PnC) team and a key part of our employee attraction and retention strategy globally. As a Total Rewards Partner, you will be assisting in guiding D2L’s culture and working closely with the Total Rewards team by assisting in the Benefits and Compensation programs to improve employee experience. You will assist in providing advice and support to all employees on Benefits, Health and Wellness and Retirement/Pension Plans and in addition, assist and maintain various compensation-related data management systems, coordinate and facilitate compensation programs and initiatives.

How Will I Make an Impact?

Compensation:

  • Use compensation best practices and market trends to identify and guide program enhancement opportunities
  • Assist with compensation reviews, ensuring appropriate consultation, documentation, analysis, costing, and approvals are completed
  • Support the job evaluation process, including conducting job audits, reviewing job worth hierarchies, and ensuring pay equity compliance
  • Partner with operational management teams and People & Culture colleagues to oversee and consistently manage job description and job evaluation systems, ensuring appropriate documentation is maintained
  • Assist with merit letters and VIP processes, including tracking, communicating updates, mail merges, and data validation
  • Participate in compensation surveys and benchmarking activities; analyze results to assess internal equity, market competitiveness, and the organization’s ability to attract and retain talent
  • Support the annual compensation and salary merit review processes
  • Document and maintain compensation and job evaluation policies, procedures, guidelines, and practices in a clear, accurate, and accessible format
  • Prepare and analyze compensation reports, metrics, and data to provide insights that support total rewards and business decision-making
  • Support the rewards and recognition programs across D2L
  • Perform other related duties as required

Benefits/Wellness:

  • Day-to-day administration of various benefit plans (health, retirement, disability, and others) including:
    • Support process enrolments, changes, and terminations
    • Monitor employee feedback and address benefit-related queries
    • Process benefit deductions and monitor taxation impacts
    • Process submission of data and contributions to third-party providers
  • Exhibit knowledge and understanding of benefits principles and practices globally, including, and not limited to Canada, United States, United Kingdom, The Netherlands, India, Australia, Norway, and Brazil
  • Support the leave intake process for leave requests globally including parental, personal, disability, unpaid leaves and others
  • Ensure the completion of year-end audits and compliance requirements of the various benefit programs (401k audit, ACA Reporting, US workers comp audit and others)
  • Review the monthly benefit invoices and reconcile for accuracy and ensure timely submission of invoices to Finance
  • Support the process of salary updates as required for international markets  
  • Manage the Benefits mailbox and PNC tickets using careful analysis of information and sound judgment to provide prompt action and high level of service
  • Manage the People & Culture team’s Lego program
  • Primary back up for Global Benefits & Wellness Manager, including supporting benefit renewals, succession planning
  • Drive and lead company-wide wellness communications, promote wellness themes and initiatives, participate as a lead for the Wellness Committee
  • Manage the Wellness Reimbursement Program
  • Assists with and manages Employee and Family Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Assists with Pension Plan administration

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills; strength in organizing and coordinating multiple activities and prioritization of tasks
  • Good problem-solving skills with the ability to find creative solutions and incorporate them into new practices/process improvements  
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to respond confidently to new or shifting priorities and goals

Skills

  • 3-5 years of related experience of global benefits and compensation, not limited to Canada and US and compensation/benefits practices and principles
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); particular facility/ease with excel (v-lookups, pivots, if/then statements)
  • Working knowledge with HRIS Systems (knowledge of Dayforce is an asset)
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and share data
  • Knowledge of general HR procedures and practices including but not limited to employee information/records administration and handling of confidential or sensitive information

Suggested Qualifications:

Possess a bachelor’s degree or diploma in Human Resources or a related field

The expected base salary range for a new hire in this role is listed below. The annualized base salary offered is determined by each candidate’s relevant knowledge, skills, education, training and experience. It is aligned to ensure both internal and external competitiveness using market data for the geographic location and industry. As part of the total compensation at D2L the role may be eligible for additional benefits including a Wellness Subsidy, Equity Grants, Variable Incentive, and more.

Base Salary Range
$75,000$90,000 CAD
