Reports to:      Technology Director, Manager, and/or Technology Group Leader
 
Scope:
Responsible for assisting Project Engineers with laboratory and field testing, layouts, prototype support, and material/equipment transport to support product development and validation activities.
 
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
 
A. Laboratory & Testing Support
  • Set up, conduct, and document laboratory tests to support engineering evaluations.
  • Operate mechanical test equipment, instrumentation, and data-collection tools.
  • Prepare test samples, prototypes, fixtures, and equipment needed for validation activities.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
B. Engineering & Layout Support
  • Assist in developing engineering layouts, test setups, and fixture designs using CAD tools (2D or 3D).
  • Support Project Engineers in creating and updating drawings, schematics, and test documentation.
  • Assist in preparation of materials, hardware, and equipment for engineering builds and experiments.
C. Material Handling & Logistics
  • Coordinate the transport of test materials, prototypes, and components.
  • Track inventory of test materials and request replenishment as needed.
  • Assist with shipping/receiving of engineering samples or external testing materials.
D. Project & Cross-Functional Support
  • Assist engineers with collection and organization of test data, photos, and documentation.
  • Support prototype builds, assembly tests, and evaluations of new designs.
  • Support Alpha and Beta testing activities requiring professional interactions with customers and sales personnel.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to support testing needs.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and sourcing to adjust and qualify new production tooling.
  • Occasional travel to vendors, manufacturing sites, or job sites.
E. Documentation & Compliance
  • Accurately document tests, results, and observations per department procedures.
  • Follow established documentation standards and proper handling of confidential information.
  • Support maintenance and calibration of lab equipment and instrumentation.
Qualifications:
  • Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or pursuing a Bachelor’s (at least 3rd year) degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field
  • 0–3 years of experience in engineering testing or technical support
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude and safe use of tools and test equipment
  • Familiarity with laboratory testing methods and data collection
  • Basic proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to lift and move materials/equipment for lab setups
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to remain flexible and quickly pivot between tasks or priorities
  • Valid Driver’s License
