Mujin creates MujinOS, the intelligent operating system for industrial robotics. By leveraging real-time digital twins, MujinOS seamlessly connects and orchestrates equipment to achieve fully autonomous operations.
At our core is Machine Intelligence (MujinMI), a unique approach offering advanced perception, planning, and control algorithms that solve the most challenging automation problems.
Trusted by globally recognized companies, we are redefining supply chain efficiency. Headquartered in Japan with growing teams in China, the US, and Europe, we invite you to join a dynamic environment where you can shape the future of automation.
The Mujin Controller is a highly complex and innovative robotics platform used by developers, integrators, and operators around the world. Clear, accurate, and accessible documentation is essential for enabling customers to use the system effectively and for scaling global deployments.
The Technical Writer / Technical Editor is responsible for producing and maintaining high-quality documentation, ensuring consistency across all user-facing materials, and shaping how different audiences understand and interact with the Mujin Controller. This role works closely with engineering, product and support teams to transform technical knowledge into a coherent, user-centered information experience.
Responsibilities:
Write, edit, and maintain high-quality documentation for developers, integrators, operators, and end users (e.g., API references, tutorials, release notes, troubleshooting guides, UX copy)
Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and UX designers to extract technical information and produce clear explanations
Define and maintain documentation standards, style guides, terminology, and voice/tone guidelines
Plan and structure documentation sets for new features, releases, and product areas
Assist in internationalization and localization workflows to ensure documentation quality in multiple languages
Analyze feedback from internal teams and customers and improve documentation usability and discoverability
Review and improve UI text, warnings, labels, and onboarding flows for the web-based controller UI
Requirements:
Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and concisely
Strong understanding of software development concepts, APIs, and modern development workflows
Awareness of how “classical” industrial automation systems (PLC-based environments, hardware-centric systems, industrial HMIs, etc.) are traditionally documented
Ability to translate between classical industry expectations (step-by-step procedures, safety-oriented documentation, hardware-first thinking) and modern software-style documentation
Experience creating technical documentation in a fast-paced software environment (developer docs, API references, system architecture descriptions, etc.)
Familiarity with documentation tools and workflows (Markdown, static site generators, git, CI-based publishing)
Ability to collaborate with engineers and product teams and ask the right questions to uncover technical details
Ability to read and understand code examples (e.g., Python, JavaScript/TypeScript)
Preferred Skills and Competencies:
Professional experience in industries such as robotics, manufacturing automation, logistics systems, or with users transitioning from PLC/HMI environments
Experience editing or reviewing automatically generated documentation (e.g., from OpenAPI, Sphinx, Doxygen, or custom pipelines)
Understanding of compliance-oriented industrial documentation (e.g., safety instructions, lock-out/tag-out procedures, operational workflows) and how these expectations differ from modern software documentation
Experience with UX writing or product copy editing
Experience with information architecture, docs-as-code practices, or content strategy
Experience working with Linux and command-line tools
Experience working in multilingual / localization pipelines
Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD, and software build systems
Experience in programming languages (C++, React/TypeScript, etc.)
Experience creating developer-focused content such as tutorials, samples, and troubleshooting guides
Attractiveness
Work at the intersection of engineering, product, UX, and support to shape the entire customer information experience
Influence the usability and adoption of a cutting-edge robotics platform used globally
Collaborate with highly skilled teams across multiple disciplines
Gain exposure to modern documentation automation, code-driven docs workflows, and advanced tooling
Opportunities to expand into areas such as information architecture, UX writing, developer education, and product design
Contribute directly to making the Mujin Controller more accessible, efficient, and delightful for all users
