Technical Sales Manager

 Job Purpose:

To build, manage and develop mining customers in line with the Customer Value Proposition. To also provide first line technical advice to customers and to staff in all Classes of Business (Commercial, Retail and Distribution), on the application and use of Vivo Energy-marketed products.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • To support and to secure technical partnership with key direct accounts (gold and platinum)
  • Consistently Grow VE business with existing Mining customers and develop profitable new business with identified prospects.
  • Provide front line technical support to customers and staff including problem solving, troubleshooting and application advice for 80% of all front-line technical issues.
  • Develop, update and implement accordingly, on a yearly basis, for each Mining customer, the Account Plan covering products, services packages, contracts, prices, credit, marketing activities and communicate the Account Plan to all departments involved in service delivery to these key accounts.
  • Positively manage CRM directly and indirectly at all relevant customer levels within the Sales CRM framework.
  • Work closely with other sales and global accounts who have the ‘ownership’ of the customers, to provide appropriate technical support to maintain and gain business in line with business strategy. Carry out joint and solo visits (with knowledge of sales force) to new and existing customers providing technical proposals/assistance to generate sales opportunities, with both existing and new products.
  • Understand and keep track of fast-changing customer needs and business environments to ensure the most appropriate services are provided to fulfil the customer’s needs.
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of the key competitors in Mining and understand their strengths and weaknesses thereby exploiting opportunities arising from these
  • Exploiting the use of Sales First tools through integrated T-SPANCOP with Sales one and delivering DVRs according to VE needs and guidelines in order to provide proven Technology Leadership or Value Led examples.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree preferably in the Engineering discipline is an advantage, or a Business Degree and some strong comparable technical background skills.
  • Minimum 4 years of current experience selling to multiple end user businesses or franchisees.
  • Proven record of delivery in sales at regional account level in a B2B/B2C environment (mining or heavy duty equipment) will be an advantage.
  • Good understanding in the use of sales tools and processes, experience in a customer-facing role (CSC or front line sales) beneficial.
