Technical Quotation Engineer
TLDR
Develop detailed commercial and technical proposals for core energy products while collaborating seamlessly within a fast-paced in-office environment.
Why Join Giga
- The Pace: We're building at a speed most companies talk about but never actually operate at. If you've been bored somewhere else, you won't be here.
- The Impact: Every person at Giga touches the work that matters. No layers, no waiting for approval chains. You'll see your fingerprints on what we ship.
- The Team: A team of operators defining the future of AI infrastructure. We recruit A-players from the most innovative companies in the world, and they choose Giga because the work here means more.
- The Moment: AI doesn't run without power, and that's us. Giga is the picks and shovels behind the AI revolution. This industry is about to explode, and you'll be in the room where it's already happening.
What you'll do
The Technical Quotation Engineer is responsible for the development of detailed commercial and technical proposals for Giga Energy’s core product lines: UL891 Switchboards, Padmount Transformers, and Substations.
Where you’ll work
We are an in-office culture — velocity matters when you're building physical infrastructure, and the best decisions happen in the room. This role is ideally based in our San Francisco, Long Beach, or Houston offices, with full-time onsite expectations outside of bi-weekly WFH Fridays.
That said, we will make exceptions for truly exceptional talent if you live outside one of our hubs. If you're the right person for this role, we'll have a conversation about what works.
Responsibilities
- Quote Generation: Build detailed, line-item quotations for UL891 Switchboards, Padmount Transformers, and Substations using Giga Energy’s internal pricing tools.
- BOM Development: Create preliminary Bills of Materials (BOMs) based on equipment configurations provided by the Technical Sales Engineering team.
- Vendor Coordination: Interface with third-party component vendors (breakers, gauges, protection relays, etc.) to obtain current pricing and lead times for non-standard items.
- Proposal Packaging: Assemble formal proposal documents, ensuring all technical data sheets, lead-time estimates, and commercial terms are accurately presented to the Customer.
- System Configuration: Perform routine equipment configurations in Giga’s software, ensuring that the selected physical footprints and electrical ratings match the project requirements.
- Margin Analysis: Work with the Director of Technical Sales to review project margins and ensure competitive positioning while maintaining company profitability targets.
- Database Maintenance: Assist in maintaining the accuracy of the pricing database and standardizing quote templates to improve response times for the Account Executive team.
- Sales Support: Provide rapid-response "budgetary" pricing for early-stage project inquiries to help Account Executives qualify opportunities.
- Up to 10%: Internal training and visits to Giga Energy manufacturing facilities.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business field (Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Technology or Construction Management preferred).
- Experience: 1–3 years of experience in estimating, quoting, or inside sales within the electrical or power distribution industry.
- Product Knowledge: Foundational understanding of electrical distribution equipment (Switchgear, Transformers, and Substations).
- Detail Oriented: Exceptional accuracy in data entry and a "measure twice, cut once" mindset regarding pricing and part numbers.
- Communication: Ability to collaborate effectively with both the field sales team and the internal manufacturing/operations teams.

Who We Hire
We don't use "A-player" loosely. Here's what it actually means at Giga:
Antifragile. You don't just survive chaos, you get better because of it. When things break, change, or move sideways, you don't freeze. You adapt faster than the problem evolves.
High Agency. You don't wait to be told what to do. You see the gap, you fill it. If something is blocking progress, you find a way around it, over it, or through it without asking for permission.
Executors. Ideas are cheap. We hire people who ship. You're the person who turns a whiteboard sketch into something real while everyone else is still scheduling the next meeting about it.
Bias to Action. Perfect is the enemy of done. You'd rather make a decision with 80% of the information and course correct than sit around waiting for 100% that never comes.
Speed. We move fast because the opportunity demands it. You're not reckless, but you understand that in this industry, the team that moves fastest wins. And you like winning.
