As a Technical Project Manager at Emesent, you will drive the delivery of complex, cross-functional hardware and software programs across our robotics, autonomy, and data platforms. Partnering with Engineering and Product leaders, you’ll manage dependencies, manage risks, and drive projects from concept through QA handover. You’ll also strengthen delivery processes, implement portfolio management tooling, and provide transparent visibility to leadership. This is a hands-on technical role offering deep engagement with hardware-software integration in robotics and data systems.
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities include
Hardware & Complex Multi-Team Project Delivery
Develop and maintain detailed project execution plans for hardware products (payloads, accessories) including engineering, external contractors, supply chain dependencies, and QA validation
Manage complex 6+ month projects requiring coordination across Robotics, Data Processing, Data Platforms, and Hardware teams
Map and manage cross-team dependencies, establish integration roadmaps, track critical path, and facilitate milestone planning & reviews
Proactively identify risks and bottlenecks, implement mitigation strategies, and drive accountability across teams and external parties
Release Coordination, Handovers & Portfolio Visibility
Oversee engineering-to-QA handovers for cross-team and complex projects, ensuring complete documentation, clear acceptance criteria, and coordinated validation timelines
Coordinate multi-team release processes, aligning Engineering Managers, QA, Product Management, and Program Management on integrated releases and dependencies
Manage handover to production for complex products, coordinating readiness across engineering, QA, manufacturing, and operations
Provide clear, decision-ready status updates to CTO and leadership on portfolio health, project risks, delivery confidence, and resource utilisation across all active projects
Facilitate capacity planning, scenario modelling and resource optimisation discussions for concurrent projects serving Mining, AEC, and Defence markets, identifying conflicts and recommending prioritisation
Delivery Process & Portfolio Tooling
Implement and maintain product development & delivery lifecycle processes, delivery gates, and standards in partnership with Engineering Managers
Transform Jira workflows, boards, and automation to ensure data integrity and consistency across teams and delivery cycles
Implement portfolio/project management tools/software and executive dashboards that eliminate manual duplication and provide real-time visibility
Track delivery KPIs (cycle time, predictability, quality), facilitate project retrospectives, and drive continuous improvement initiatives
Explore the use of AI tools for analysing the performance and productivity of teams for continuous improvement
