Position summary

 

The Technical Program Manager will direct resources, manage risks and issues, enforce configuration and quality assurance controls, and oversee testing, deployment, and production turnover activities. Acting as the primary interface with federal stakeholders and the COR, the role ensures clear communication, milestone accountability, and continuous alignment with client priorities. This position reports to the Tantus Delivery Director and plays a key role in driving delivery excellence, contractual compliance, and sustained customer satisfaction.

Clearance: This position supports a federal contract and requires U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident (Green Card holder) status, as well as the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Location: This role is based in the Washington, DC area and candidate must be able to attend periodic meetings at federal offices.

What will you do in this role?

  • Provide comprehensive governance and delivery oversight for assigned programs and projects, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy, contractual requirements, and federal stakeholder expectations.
  • Lead planning and execution activities, including orchestration of resources, schedules, infrastructure, and finances, with disciplined monitoring and control to ensure on-time, high-quality delivery.
  • Drive continuous improvement through performance assessment, implementation of best practices, and development of new capabilities that enhance operational effectiveness and mission outcomes.
  • Establish and enforce program and project governance frameworks, operating within overarching organizational and customer-defined structures to ensure accountability, risk management, and decision transparency.
  • Align top-down vision, goals, and objectives with execution-level activities, translating strategic direction into actionable plans and measurable outcomes.
  • Provide quality assurance oversight, including checks and balances to ensure compliance with standards, processes, and approved methodologies while maintaining alignment with program vision.
  • Conduct regular reviews of project performance, risks, issues, and stakeholder engagement to ensure accountability and successful delivery.
  • Develop and present clear, decision-oriented recommendations to leadership and stakeholders to support timely issue resolution and achievement of program and project objectives.

 

What do you need to succeed in this role?

  • Master’s degree with a minimum of fifteen (15) years of relevant experience in technical program or project management.
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related technical discipline.
  • Active Project Management Professional (PMP), Program Management Professional (PgMP), Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP), or equivalent project or program management certification.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across multiple organizational levels and functional disciplines, including technical teams, business stakeholders, and executive leadership.
  • Strong customer and stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to influence outcomes, build trusted relationships, and manage competing priorities in complex environments.
  • Demonstrable history of innovation, a proactive and results-driven mindset, and consistent delivery of high-quality outcomes that meet or exceed performance targets.

In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the midpoint of the salary range for this role is $170,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
