Role Objective


The Technical Pre-Sales Engineer plays a critical role in the sales cycle by bridging the gap between customer business needs and the company’s technical solutions. This role is responsible for engaging with prospects and customers during the pre-sales phase, understanding requirements, preparing tailored solution designs, and demonstrating the value of the company’s products and services. Working closely with Sales, Product, and Solution Engineering teams, the Technical Pre-Sales Engineer ensures that proposed solutions are technically sound, feasible, and aligned with customer objectives.

Key Responsibilities:


Customer Engagement & Discovery

  • Participate in customer meetings, workshops, and discovery sessions to gather technical requirements and understand business objectives.
  • Translate customer needs into solution proposals aligned with company offerings.


Solution Design & Architecture

  • Develop technical solution designs, architecture diagrams, and integration workflows for proposals and RFP responses.
  • Ensure proposed solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with telecom industry best practices.


Pre-Sales Support

  • Support the sales team with technical expertise throughout the sales cycle.
  • Deliver product presentations, demonstrations, participate in customer meeting and industry events


Proposal & Documentation

  • Contribute to technical sections of proposals, RFPs, and commercial offers.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of solution templates, use cases, and reference architectures.


Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with Product and Engineering teams to validate customer requirements and provide feedback for product enhancements.
  • Collaborate with Deployment & Integration teams to ensure a smooth transition from pre-sales to project delivery.


Competitive & Market Intelligence

  • Monitor industry trends, competitor offerings, and new technologies to strengthen solution positioning.
  • Advise Sales on differentiation strategies to highlight technical advantages.


Customer Relationship Building

  • Build trust with technical stakeholders in customer organizations by acting as a subject-matter expert.
  • Provide consultative guidance to help customers align their business goals with technical solutions.


Skills:

  •  Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of telecom industry (SMS A2P, Voice, SS7 signaling, mobile network infrastructure, APIs).
  • Pre-Sales Acumen: Ability to bridge technical and business discussions, articulate value propositions, and position solutions effectively.
  • Solution Design: Skilled in creating architecture diagrams, integration workflows, and scalable solution designs.
  • Presentation & Communication: Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving: Ability to evaluate complex requirements, design feasible solutions, and address customer concerns.
  • Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively across sales, product, and engineering teams.
  • Technical Tools: Familiarity with CRM tools (Salesforce, HubSpot), presentation tools (Draw.io, PowerPoint, Google Slides), and other sales support software.


Experience:


  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field. Advanced certifications in telecom or IT (e.g., CCNA, ITIL, PMP, or telecom specific) are a plus.
  • Industry Experience: 3–7 years of experience in solution engineering, pre-sales, or technical consulting within the telecom or technology sector.
  • Pre-Sales Experience: Proven track record supporting sales teams in customer engagements, PoCs, and RFP responses, customer visits and industry events.
  • Telecom Knowledge: Strong understanding of SMS A2P, Voice, and related business models, including revenue flows.
  • Customer Engagement: Experience presenting to customers, running workshops, and acting as a trusted technical advisor.
  • Solution Architecture: Hands-on experience designing and proposing complex technical solutions that integrate APIs, databases, and network systems.
