Technical Director

Sales / London

Work where work matters.

We are a global technology group built for what's next, offering high calibre professionals the platform for high stakes work, the kind of work that defines an entire career. When you join us, you're not just taking on projects, you're solving problems that don't even have answers yet.

You will join an exclusive roster of talent that global leaders, including Google, Snap, Diageo, PayPal, and Jaguar Land Rover call when deadlines seem impossible, when others have already tried and failed, and when the solution absolutely has to work.

Forget routine consultancy. You will operate where technology, design, and human behaviour meet to deliver tangible outcomes, fast. This is work that leaves a mark, work you’ll be proud to tell your friends about.

We are looking for a Technical Director, Data & AI to be our senior most technical authority and strategic leader. Reporting directly to the CTO, you will own the technical vision and strategy that helps our retail clients solve their most complex, high-stakes challenges.

We look for people who embody:

Innovation to solve the hardest problems.

‍Accountability for every result.

‍Integrity always.

Requirements

As Technical Director for Data & AI, you are Qodea's most senior technical authority in this space, the person clients trust to make the right call on complex, high-stakes programmes. This is an individual contributor role. You won't manage a team, but you will be the technical conscience of the practice: shaping strategy, influencing peers, and setting the standard.

This role is firmly rooted in the Google Cloud ecosystem. We want someone who knows the Data & Analytics and AI/ML portfolio inside out, not as a generalist who's "done a bit of GCP," but as someone who thinks natively in Google Cloud terms.

Core Responsibilities

  • Technical strategy. Define and evolve the technical direction for Qodea's Data & AI practice, grounded in Google Cloud's data and AI portfolio - BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Vertex AI, Looker, and the broader ecosystem.
  • Client advisory. Act as the executive-level technical partner for key accounts. Build trusted relationships with CTOs, CIOs, and Heads of Engineering - the person they turn to when decisions are difficult and the stakes are real.
  • Sales partnership. Lead the technical dimension of high-stakes pursuits. Design solutions that are innovative, deliverable, and compliant - grounded in what Google Cloud actually does well.
  • Technical influence. Raise the bar across the engineering community. Shape best practices, contribute to architectural standards, and be the person senior architects want to learn from - through gravity, not org chart.
  • Innovation. Drive Qodea's Data & AI innovation agenda in close partnership with Google Cloud. Stay credibly ahead of the platform roadmap and help clients see what's coming before it's GA.

What You Bring

  • Deep, demonstrable expertise in Google Cloud's Data & Analytics and AI/ML portfolio. You should be able to hold a credible technical conversation about BigQuery, Dataflow, Vertex AI, Looker, Pub/Sub, Dataproc, and related services without reaching for a cheat sheet.
  • Significant experience as a senior technical authority (Principal Architect, Technical Director, or equivalent) on large, complex data and AI programmes.
  • A track record of designing and delivering transformative solutions in domains like core systems modernisation, secure data platforms, regulatory technology, or cloud-native analytics.
  • Credibility at C-suite level. You've been the trusted technical partner to senior leaders — not just a presenter in the room.
  • Commercial awareness. You understand how technical strategy connects to revenue and you're comfortable shaping a pursuit.
  • A genuine investment in raising the technical standard of those around you, even without direct reports.
