Position Overview

We are seeking a Technical Coordinator to represent Axelera AI in a major Horizon EU program developing next-generation RISC-V AI chiplets for high-performance computing.

The ideal candidate has strong HPC hardware, AI acceleration, and ASIC design expertise, paired with excellent project coordination and stakeholder-management skills. You will translate project requirements into clear technical strategies, manage consortium interactions, and ensure alignment with EU objectives while allowing our internal teams to stay focused on execution.

As Axelera AI’s key liaison to the consortium, you will oversee coordination, reporting, and strategic planning, ensuring our technical contributions meet project goals and align with our internal roadmap.

Key responsibilities:

  • EU Project Strategy Lead: Drive Axelera AI's technical strategy for the EU project and translate consortium requirements into clear actionable guidance across architecture, silicon, software, machine learning, and system integration teams.

  • Consortium Technical Interface: Serve as the primary technical contact for the project partners, manage all partner communication, coordinate regular meetings and day-to-day project interactions, and participate in in-person project events including all-hands meetings, technical workshops, and consortium gatherings.

  • Technical Cross-Domain Problem Solver: Facilitate resolution of technical challenges technical challenges in accelerator architecture, SIP & PCB design, machine integration, and AI workload optimization, making autonomous decisions on consortium matters and escalating critical issues when necessary.

  • Internal Alignment Manager: Collaborate closely with program management to support project-related roadmapping, lead annual Project Plan updates, monitor Work Package progress, and coordinate and enable timely delivery of all project deliverables while tracking critical paths, dependencies, and risks ; translate consortium requirements into actionable plans that align with internal priorities and minimize workflow conflicts.

  • EU Reporting & Compliance Lead: Lead preparation of technical reports for EU submissions, represent Axelera AI at coordination meetings, and ensure Horizon EU compliance; coordinate with finance team on effort reporting and cost tracking, validate submissions, and support audit preparation while minimizing administrative burden on technical staff.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as Technical Lead or Coordinator in Horizon EU or similar multi-partner collaborative research projects, including demonstrated knowledge of EU reporting requirements, deliverable management, and consortium coordination. Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities with proven capacity to manage multiple workstreams, anticipate issues, and work autonomously in complex multi-stakeholder environments. · Advanced degree (Masters & above) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 5+ years experience in HPC hardware and AI acceleration projects.

  • Strong technical background across computer architecture, ASIC design, AI/HPC systems, and AI software stack, including hands-on experience with multi-node architectures, virtual prototyping, ASIC design, SIP integration, PCB design, AI applications.

  • Experience with project management tools (Jira, EMDESK or similar) and effort tracking/financial reporting for publicly funded research programs. Familiarity with deep tech public funding compliance requirements.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with ability to effectively interface between technical teams, consortium partners, funding agencies, and internal program/finance teams.

  • Fluent in English (required).

We offer a flexible working arrangement, with options to:

  • Work from one of our Axelera AI offices (Leuven in Belgium, Amsterdam and Eindhoven in the Netherlands, Zurich in Switzerland, Florence and Milan in Italy or Bristol in the United Kingdom) if you're already based in the vicinity.

  • Work fully remotely from any European country (incl. the UK) you are already in.

  • Relocate with us and work from Italy (Florence or Milan) or the Netherlands (Amsterdam or Eindhoven).
