The impact of the role:

As a Tech Lead, you will blend deep hands-on engineering with technical leadership, acting as the technical counterpart to product leadership. This is a technical role, not a managerial one: you will write code, lead technical decisions, guide the team through complex problems, and set the standard for quality, delivery, and platform reliability.

On a given day, a Tech Lead will:

• Take part in architecture discussions and make design decisions to ensure scalability, performance, and maintainability.
• Write and review production code (primarily Java and Python) and contribute hands-on across the stack when needed.
• Collaborate closely with Product leadership to shape the scope, define realistic delivery plans, and make trade-offs.
• Drive best practices around releases and stability, improving deployment confidence and reducing regressions.
• Establish a pragmatic approach to tech debt: identify, prioritize, and steadily reduce it while maintaining delivery pace.
• Ensure timely and effective bug resolution through strong triage, root-cause analysis, and preventative fixes.
• Provide technical guidance through code reviews, design reviews, and day-to-day mentoring, leading through influence rather than line management.
• Promote engineering standards, encourage knowledge sharing, and help the team continuously improve.
  

Requirements

In order to be successful in this role you will need:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 7 years of hands-on software development experience, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership or senior engineering role.
• Strong hands-on experience building and operating production systems in Java and Python.
• Solid SQL skills and confidence working with data-heavy systems.
• High ownership and self-motivation, with a track record of taking initiative and driving outcomes.
• Ability to lead technical discussions, align a team around an approach, and communicate trade-offs clearly.
• Strong understanding of system design, APIs, databases, and cloud infrastructure.
• A collaborative approach with excellent communication skills, capable of working cross-functionally and cross-culturally.
• Fluency in English.
  
  

Amazing if you have:

• AWS experience.
• Familiarity with big data systems / technologies and data platform patterns.
• Experience with JavaScript / frontend technologies and prior full-stack work, enabling you to supervise frontend code quality and architecture as well.
