Job Purpose

The Team Leader (TL) provides armed protection security for our client contract in Basra. TL is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of team presentation and capability to the client. TL is fully compliant with Control Risks’ SOPs at all time and works with his/her colleagues to deliver the best possible service to the client.

Rotation - 8 weeks on / 4 weeks off

Start date - 24 April 2025

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates client etiquette, discipline and Control Risks’ low profile approach;
  • Possesses up to date knowledge of threat and key issues in Iraq.  
  • Conducts Vehicle and Dismounted Contact and Immediate Action Drills.
  • Possesses competent Navigation skills including map, compass and use of GPS.
  • Competent in the use of all communications systems both vehicles mounted and hand held.
  • Able to be fully conversant and comply with Rules of Engagement and Use of Force.
  • Maintains competence in these skills through regular formal assessment.
  • Conducts effective administration to include vehicle maintenance, equipment husbandry/accountability and reports and returns.
  • Assists in the conduct of risk assessments and operational planning.
  • Issues orders to team members and briefs clients in line with SOPs when required.
  • Conducts venue and route recces and produces reports.
  • Is able to command the team and issue direction to clients.

Requirements

Essential

  • Minimum 12 months APT experience.
  • Minimum 5 years military / police experience.
  • Minimum 2 years commercial experience in Iraq.
  • Fluent English speaker and writer.

Preferred

  • Non-native English speakers from countries where English is not the official language: proof (dated within the last two years) of language ability based on the TOEFL testing process with score of 110 or above or the IELTS of 8 or above.
  • Valid SIA Frontline Close Protection Licence
  • Valid certificate for FPOSi Lv3 (QNUK), FPOS lv3 or 4 (Pearson) and FREC lv3 (QA / Qualsafe).
  • Military records
  • Holds a BTEC Level 3 Close Protection Certificate recognised by the Security Industry Authority (SIA or country equivalent) and accredited by Ofqual
  • HECPO qualified preferable
