About us:
How did Web Summit become, in the words of Forbes, “the best tech conference on the planet”? Meaningful connections. Our tech events are unmissable because we make it easier for the right people to meet and connect. Everyone at Web Summit works towards this goal.
And we’re just getting started.
We’re always looking to build on the impact we have already made at Web Summit. In the coming years we’ll take Web Summit to new markets, promoting global connectivity, highlighting important issues and connecting global leaders – all while making a positive impact on the environment and communities we encounter.
To build a better company, we have to better ourselves. We do that by finding the most ambitious people to work with us.
About the team:
We’re looking for a Team Lead - Event Design to join our Creative team at Web Summit.
The Web Summit Design team is responsible for the overall art direction and brand management of the company and the events portfolio. This innovative team works on anything and everything that needs a creative touch, including “identity creation” for a portfolio of brands, our events, that take place around the world, identity creation and marketing collateral for a number of stages. The team also aids the product team in producing creative assets for websites, apps, ads and much more.
Whether it’s web, print, motion graphics or stage design, this team is tasked with generating fresh ideas that inspire and engage our attendees, partners and clients.
What you will achieve:
Creative Vision & Brand Integrity
Lead the Event Design Function: Direct the visual identity for all physical event touchpoints, including complex wayfinding systems, venue mapping, and key event wayfinding projects.
Ensure Brand Consistency: Act as the guardian of the brand across all physical media, ensuring every piece of artwork aligns with global guidelines and works in harmony with Marketing, Video, and Motion departments.
Stakeholder Management: Present final concepts to the Executive leadership team and collaborate with the Creative Director to ensure the event design supports broader business objectives.
Production Oversight & Quality Control
Optimise the Print Pipeline: Partner with Project Managers and Print Production teams to streamline the journey from digital file to physical installation.
Technical Excellence: Maintain a rigorous Design Print Asset Database, ensuring all assets are up-to-date, correctly coded for installation, and compliant with exact printing specifications.
Partner Integration: Oversee the design requirements for event partners, providing them with templates, reviewing their submissions, and identifying new branding opportunities to elevate the attendee experience.
Talent and Resource Management
Resource Allocation: Manage the team’s daily capacity, ensuring deadlines are met while balancing the use of in-house talent and external freelancers.
On-Site Execution: Lead the design team during event week, managing last-minute requirements and supporting the production team to ensure a seamless build.
Process Innovation: Continuously evaluate and implement new tools to reduce friction in the design process and improve team output.
Skills we like:
Experience: 8+ years in professional graphic design, with at least 4 years in a leadership or people-management role.
Sector Expertise: Deep experience in the Events or Experiential industry is essential. You understand the unique challenges of large-scale environmental graphics.
Technical Mastery: Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and a sophisticated understanding of typography, spatial layout, and visual hierarchy.
Production Knowledge: A strong grasp of large-format print processes, material specifications, and installation coding.
Communication: Ability to translate complex creative ideas into actionable briefs for designers and clear updates for non-design stakeholders.
Benefits and perks:
- Subsidised healthcare, dental, employee assistance programme (EAP) and more.
- Pension contribution up to 6%(Irish based only)
- A dedicated in-house L&D department, with access to workshops, online learning and resources to help you excel in your career development.
