You will be directly involved in contributing and managing the delivery of content validation through researching experts suitable to act as peer reviewers for cutting-edge research, and content integrity checks of submissions to ensure compliance with the Taylor and Francis editorial policies.

The successful candidate will report to the Senior Manager – Peer Review Services and will join our Content Management Operations team.

Given the nature of the subject matter involved these roles would suit individuals with a Post Graduate background in Biomedical Sciences, Life Sciences or Physical Sciences & Engineering subjects as you will be required to understand the scientific context of the articles for which you are supporting.

What you will be doing:

  • Overall responsibility for the peer review process to agreed speed and quality targets.
  • Support Senior Manager – Peer Reviewer services in managing the delivery of peer reviewer selection services to agreed time and quality targets.
  • Support Senior Manager – Content Integrity Services in managing the delivery of content integrity services to time and quality targets.
  • Staying up to date with internal and external guidelines on ethical publication practices and ensuring the team adhere to the highest standards of publication ethics.
  • Managing the quality of peer reviewer selection, review report quality and content integrity service through routine spot-checks and managing the delivery of necessary corrective & preventive steps.
  • Providing project support and oversight where required on inter- and cross-departmental projects.
  • Effective handling of team administration, including maintenance of team workflows, process tracking, resource planning and team KPIs. 
  • Performance management, coaching and motivating a team to meet objectives and targets; taking accountability for team performance and developing talent.
  • Recruitment and training of new team members.  
  • Developing a collaborative team in which all members make a positive contribution.
  • Creating, maintaining and controlling process documentation, and ensuring optimal workflows are used.
  • Developing a detailed knowledge of how systems and processes work to collaborate on problem-solving, defect management and best practice.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders internally and externally, including developing and managing relationships and regular liaison with editorial teams, creating reports and responding to feedback.
  • Collaborate with the Supplier Management team to develop and maintain relationships with suppliers as the process expert, to ensure a successful delivery of services to agreed targets.
  • Representing the work of the team across the business.
  • Identifying opportunities for change and improvements at the product and system level, and in services, with particular focus on Reviewer Selection, and Desk Assessment, and building a case explaining the benefits to key stakeholders.
  • Be the point of contact for the business on Reviewer Selection and Content Integrity Checks process and service delivery. Providing effective and timely resolution to escalations, feedback and queries from stakeholders.

 

What are we looking for:

  • A post-graduate qualification (M.Sc, PhD or equivalent) in Biomedical Sciences, Life Sciences, Physical Science or Engineering subjects
  • Experience of managing people, coaching, mentoring, and adapting to others’ learning styles.
  • Prior experience working in academic publishing and on peer review processes for journals will be desirable.
  • An interest and awareness of academic publishing and an up-to-date knowledge of market trends
  • Confident communication skills (emails, phone, and in-person) with a strong command of English spelling and grammar.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and a desire to provide excellent customer service
  • Understanding of skills and tools required for managing change.
  • Knowledge and experience in process-driven workflows, and ability to recognise process improvement opportunities
  • Experience working in a customer-facing role
  • Ability to be detail-oriented, accurate, and a problem-solver
  • Excellent organization skills and confidence in completing multiple tasks to deadlines
  • Good persuasion and influencing skills, showing empathy for others’ viewpoints
  • Flexibility to adjust to changes in work plans or assignments
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office software

Some experience with online submission platforms like ScholarOne™ or Editorial Manager® would be advantageous, although full training is available.

When you’re not spending time together in one of our offices or other workplaces – like at conference – you get the flexibility and support to work from home or remotely.

The successful candidate will be able to utilise our balanced working model. We ask that candidates live within a commutable distance of our Delhi office to ensure that as a balanced worker they can make it to our office location to collaborate as required. There is an expectation for a minimum of 3 days per week in-person time.​
