Tax Specialist

TLDR

Support full compliance with tax obligations through accurate filings and collaboration with Finance, Legal, and Operations while driving continuous improvement in tax processes.

The mission:

The Tax Specialist supports Baubap’s full compliance with all tax obligations—corporate, VAT, payroll, and others—by ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to Mexican regulations. This role plays a key part in executing tax filings, maintaining precise documentation, and collaborating across Finance, Legal, and Operations to ensure consistent tax alignment. Through strong analytical skills and attention to detail, the Tax Analyst contributes to Baubap’s mission of promoting financial inclusion while safeguarding the company’s financial integrity.

 

The expected outcome:

  • Accurate and timely submission of all tax filings and reports.
  • Zero penalties due to missed deadlines or inconsistencies.
  • Up-to-date and well-organized tax documentation and reconciliations.
  • Efficient communication and resolution of tax authority requests.
  • Continuous improvement in tax processes through automation and optimization.
  • Clear collaboration and information flow with internal teams (Finance, Legal, Operations).

 

The day to day tasks:

  • Prepare and file monthly and annual tax returns (ISR, IVA, payroll, and other obligations).
  • Support tax reconciliations and ensure alignment between accounting and tax records.
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess potential impacts on the company.
  • Assist in responding to tax authority requirements, reviews, or audits.
  • Maintain and update tax documentation, work papers, and control files.
  • Support the implementation of automation tools for tax calculation and reporting.
  • Assist in identifying tax credits, incentives, and deductions to optimize liabilities.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and consultants during tax reviews or filings.
  • Ensure compliance with specific SOFIPO regulatory requirements in coordination with the Tax Manager.

 

Why YOU should apply:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Experience: 3–5 years of experience in tax compliance or accounting, ideally in financial institutions, fintechs, SOFOMs, or SOFIPOs.
  • Knowledge:
    • Strong understanding of Mexican tax regulations (ISR, IVA, ISN, etc).
    • Experience with SAT filings and tax authority platforms.
    • Familiarity with ERP systems and tax automation tools.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
    • High attention to detail and accuracy under tight deadlines.
    • Proactive communication and teamwork across departments.
    • Intermediate to advanced Excel and tax software proficiency.
  • Languages: Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
