We are seeking an experienced Europe Tax Manager with strong expertise in European corporate taxation, compliance, reporting, and cross-border regulatory frameworks. This role requires significant hands-on experience (7+ years) in tax compliance and advisory within multinational, fintech, payments, or technology-driven environments. The Tax Manager will oversee tax compliance and reporting across Malta, UK, and additional European jurisdictions, ensuring adherence to EU directives, local tax legislation, and internal control standards. This position will also provide technical guidance, support strategic business initiatives from a tax perspective, and act as a key liaison with external advisors and tax authorities throughout Europe. This role includes supervising, coordinating with global and regional tax teams, and driving process improvement initiatives to ensure robust, scalable, and efficient tax operations across the region. What will I be doing?
  • Review and oversee tax compliance obligations across Malta, UK, and multiple European jurisdictions, ensuring timely and accurate filings (corporate tax, VAT, withholding taxes, EU-level reporting obligations, etc.).
  • Validate tax calculations, assessments, and reconciliations in accordance with EU and local regulations.
  • Coordinate monthly/quarterly closings, ensuring tax accounts are accurate and properly reconciled.
  • Maintain, test, and enhance internal controls related to tax processes for European entities, ensuring alignment with global standards.
  • Identify tax risks, document exposures, and ensure appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and continuously improve tax procedures and standardized workflows across the region.
  • Provide expert tax guidance on new products, business initiatives, cross- border flows, and structural changes impacting European entities.
  • Monitor tax impacts related to regulatory updates, EU directives, and local changes in corporate tax or VAT frameworks.
  • Support the evaluation of tax incentives, credits, deductions, and other optimization opportunities.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for tax authorities across Malta, UK, and other European jurisdictions during audits, inquiries, and compliance reviews.
  • Coordinate and manage external tax advisors, ensuring high-quality deliverables and aligned tax positions.
  • Oversee the preparation, review, and maintenance of tax documentation, working papers, and audit-ready supporting files for all European jurisdictions.
  • Ensure accurate and consistent documentation for corporate tax returns, VAT filings, transfer pricing, and other statutory obligations.
  • Stay fully up to date on changes to EU-level tax directives and local legislation across operational jurisdictions.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, automate tax processes, and strengthen compliance frameworks.
  • What skills do I need?
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive experiencein European tax, preferably within fintech, payments, technology, or multinational companies.
  • Strong technical understanding of: EU corporate tax frameworks, VAT and cross-border transaction taxation, withholding tax rules, transfer pricing standards and EU directives (DAC6/MDR, ATAD, PSD, Interest & Royalties Directive, etc.)
  • Experience managing tax compliance across multiple European jurisdictions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex data and interpret legislation.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and tax automation tools; SAP experience highly valued.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work effectively in fast-paced environments
