C3 AI is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join our team to lead all aspects of our tax practice. You will be responsible for managing tax reporting, providing innovative tax planning strategies, and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader capable of mentoring staff and collaborating with internal stakeholders to optimize tax-efficient business practices. 

Please note that this position is full-time and located onsite at our Redwood City office.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the accurate and timely preparation of U.S. consolidated income tax return and state income tax returns, as well as local international subsidiary returns.
  • Develop and implement tax-efficient strategies to minimize liability and improve financial performance.
  • Manage tax audits, respond to inquiries from tax authorities, and prepare necessary documentation.
  • Monitor legislative changes, perform technical tax research, and manage tax provisions in accordance with the U.S. GAAP.
  • Streamline tax procedures, implement new technology, and maintain effective internal controls.
  • Collaborate with accounting and finance team on tax accounting matters, and transactional analysis
  • Monitor changes in tax laws and communicate relevant updates to internal stakeholders
  • Work with Legal, Revenue Operations, and Procurement on deal structuring, vendor contracts, and customer agreements to identify tax implications early.
  • Actively participate in the monthly and quarterly close process, ensuring timely and accurate recording of journal entries, accruals and reconciliations.
  • Support international operations by coordinating with foreign subsidiaries on statutory reporting requirements, local compliance deadlines, and cross-functional finance initiatives across multiple jurisdictions
  • Partner with the internal audit and finance teams to support SOX 404 compliance, including documentation of controls, coordination of testing activities, and timely remediation of any identified gaps

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; master’s degree in taxation or MBA is preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in tax accounting, preferably with at least 2 years in a supervisory role (Big 4 or large corporate experience highly valued).
  • Broad technical knowledge of US and international tax laws and regulations
  • Strong accounting skills including inter-company transactions and eliminations, as well as experience with statutory local accounting
  • Solid GAAP Financial Accounting/ASC 740 knowledge
  • Familiarity with SOX 404 compliance processes, including internal control frameworks, audit coordination, and working effectively with external auditors in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Excellent business acumen with a sound understanding of the tax implications of a multi-national technology company
  • Detail-oriented, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Effective presentation skills and solid project management skills
  • The ability to communicate complex tax and industry concepts to colleagues and key stakeholders through strong writing and speaking skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, hands on mentality and can-do attitude
