This position will be based in Charlotte, NC.

Summary of Role 

As a key member of the Finance Team, the Tax Director, Partnerships and Tax Equity, will report to the Chief Accounting officer and will have oversight of all partnership and tax equity related functions of the Company. This position will be a key strategic role in the overall management of the accounting organization, partnering with our corporate tax and cross-functional teams to help drive operational and tax efficiency.

Strategic & Tactical

  • Oversee the completion of partnership federal and state income tax returns, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Establish and maintain the cash tax forecast model incorporating inputs from expected partnership distributions
  • Provide strategic guidance and oversight for tax planning initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external partnership tax advisors and tax authorities
  • Provide ad hoc reporting and guidance upon the request of tax equity partners 
  • Establish and maintain robust internal controls over accounting and reporting for income taxes to ensure compliance and mitigate financial risks.
  • Oversee and provide guidance related to tax credit registrations and transfers
  • Stay informed about legislative changes in tax law and assess their impact on the company's tax positions and tax accounting implications.
  • Review partnership and joint venture tax-related general ledger account reconciliations
  • Review periodic hypothetical liquidation at book value (HLBV) calculations for tax equity funds
  • As needed, preparation and review of tax equity fund annual workpapers and tax return filings
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior management to achieve company objectives and drive a culture of compliance and excellence.
  • Ad-hoc/special projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • CPA certification with previous experience at a Big 4 accounting firm strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of tax experience
  • Solid understanding of partnership tax concepts 
  • Renewal energy Investment Tax Credit experience a plus
  • Tax equity investor experience a plus
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in tax reporting and compliance.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with a hands-on approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate in a team-based environment.
  • Excellent team player
  • Available for occasional travel
